Hi Jenny! I have over-wintered geraniums for a couple of years now and love the blooms they provide during the winter months. I take cuttings and make new plants for spring planting. I have had the same "mother plant" for 3 years running and she has provided me with over 20 plants. Geraniums are so pricey in the spring. Good for you to get such a great deal.

I had to buy a bunch of plants myself this season but was also able to start seeds of carrots, and some greens

My local nursery also had plants for $5 I got three hangin baskets for $20 and a free titonia (Mexican sunflower) butterflies and birds love it. I also overwinter geraniums.😅😊😅

My first frost date is around 16 October here in Ontario, Canada and I usually keep summer planters till first frost adding some pumpkins etc. In November it might be even snowing so it does not make sense for me to spend a lot buying annuals. Usually, I don't have luck with fall vegies due to temperature fluctuations. But I am planning to buy some shrubs when they will be 50% off in my local nursery. I always go to their final sale in the end of October when they sale perennials for $1-2. I try to buy perennials that are hardy to zone 3 and 90% of them will survive for me. This is the best way to fill in the garden on budget. However, I might not get everything I would like to.

I just redid my summer pots with some Dragon's Breath celosia and creeping jenny, and I love the combination of the chartreuse and deep pink/red for fall. What a great haul you came home with! It's so funny how plants just appear in your cart at garden centers. It's like magic!

I have successfully overwintered geraniums in my zone 5b New Hampshire garden. There are different ways to do it, but I just shook off all the dirt, placed each plant upside down in a paper bag, and then checked the plants during the winter. Lightly mist the roots if the plant appears too dry. Then in late winter, trim off any bad pieces, pot up the plants and keep them in a sunny window or under grow lights, and then bring them back out after any danger of frost. :)

Hi! It's not Burro's Tail, it' Crassula genera, perhaps rupens or perforata. But definitely not Burro's tail. And the. "no idea" one is dried up Hatiora salicornioides (Dancing Bones Cactus) perhaps.

I overwinter my geraniums by bringing them into the house. Love the beautiful red color that cheers me up. I put them back outside the next spring.

6:15 I was worried about Master Gardener Jenny, but you redeemed yourself. Have you ordered any spring bulbs? I ordered tulips from Dutch bulbs. The box store ones usually aren’t as big or reliable.

I found three ornamental kale pots at local Krogers and celery, cabbage and broccoli plants at HD. I should have started these earlier as they are so expensive. Also splurged on a copper leaf fountain and a square White pot to put it in (had a tiny pump). Next year will put water plants in there. Your porch pots look great and so does your hair.

Your from porch looks BEAUTIFUL! Love the fuchsia colored geraniums in the pots! Here in Minnesota were doing mums & pumpkins already!

I planted in a pot the succelent with the babies on the leaves. They multiplied at a terrible rate. And they fell out the pot. As they got bigger and more and more. Still struggle to get rid of them years later. Even with geese in the yard eating them and frost damage. Still out of control. Worst plant ever. Sorry I never comment negative things. But please be careful. 😊
