For those who feel offended they were speaking to other managers...This is what every business do. You test the waters before things go bad, not when things go bad quickly look for a solution. is it disrespectful? Not if they are honest in their evaluation. In the end they kept Ten Hag, because that's what seemed to be the best choice.

That's exactly how it is and how it played out. Clearly they don't have much confidence in ETH, otherwise they wouldn't have spoken to anyone else. What I can't understand is why they are discussing a contract extension with him when he won't be poached by anyone else when his contract expires at the end of the season.

That might be the right decision for now, but not in the medium to long term, which is why I'm totally against a contract extension. Review at the end of the next season, but not now.

If you are the new owner you didnt pick ten hag. You evaluate all options and nay be there might be a better manager out there. As a new ambitious owner you want the best manager for yourself. Also it put a pressure on ten hag to perform well now as they know Ineos are not joking around now. Eventually we won the FA cup. Its a no brainer

@@usmanbacha3449 They were flirting with other managers even after the FA Cup win, mate. The fact of the matter is that they wanted a new guy but it didn't quite work out with those on their list. They had to fall back on Ten Hag by default, after all he still has 1 year+ on his contract.

With govt as biggest borrower/spender high interest rates hurt the real economy and blow up govt debt. Grow stagnates, inflation continues to rise because costs continue to go up as money is more expensive and shortages remain

The Real Madrid comparison is irrelevant to me tbh, la liga is far less competitive and has far less money than the Premiere league. 6 teams have ambitions to win the league and 10 teams fighting for European competitions. Madrid has to worry about Barça and Atletico wheres United have other 5 to 8 teams to worry about.

They came in half way through the season and said they were reviewing the whole club and everyone in it, so that obviously includes the manager and the season wasn’t on par with what should be expected of a club with the stature of Manchester United. So they looked at every aspect and decided who to fire and who to hire and many people at the club lost their job and rightly so, and ten Haag was kept because they couldn’t find a better replacement it’s that simple and it was the right choice. It’s simple really. The circus that has been post sir Alex Manchester United is over.

Reasons to back the manager: - ETH had a great first season. - 3 finals in his first 2 years at the club. - Winning 2 cups, league cup and FA cup - no other manager has done that. Instilling a winning mentality. - Dealt with the chaos at the club. - Tried to change style of play and personnel - sure enough injuries and new goalie errors dumped Utd out of champions league. But with the changes it's to be expected. - Brought youngsters through in to first team. - Got 8th which in the scheme of things wasn't too bad. I know this is Manchester United but all in all he's not done too bad. Reasons to be cheerful 😉.

We conceded more shots than any team in the top 5 leagues in Europe, aside from Sheffield United. He brought youth players into the team? Who? Every single United manager has brought young players into the team since the 50’s… Ten Hag has done nothing impressive on that front. Garnacho was already in the squad before Ten Hag arrived. So he brought Mainoo in. 1 player.
