I can't back this up with evidence, but I'm pretty sure there was a time during one of Blair's Governments when Alan Milburn was effectively made Minister for Labour's Election Campaign, which at the time incensed me as I couldn't understand why the media wasn't picking up on a Minister being paid by the public purse to do a job that was only in the interests of a political party rather than running the country. It always struck me as corrupt. I have no problem with MPs helping their party to win an election -that's their duty- but to appoint a Minister for that sole purpose was indefensible. This is the most depressing episode of Novara Media I've seen -and I'm only 20 minutes in.
