Sir Keir Starmer said the UK was again experiencing the “sunlight of hope” after a Labour landslide put him on course to be the next prime minister.
Tory leader Rishi Sunak conceded defeat after a “sobering” night for his party which saw a record eight Cabinet minister lose their seats.

Scotland will pay a price for voting in labour. Did no one listen to their speeches when in Scotland? Watch as austerity still rides roughshod in Scotland. When will pple realise and understand how Westminster works. It is not in favour of any other country in uk but little england. Off course Wales will do well out of thos as they have a labour devolved govmt. Bad feelings I have about this. Scots shld have voted outright SNP and showed labour we meant business but no. If my life had been different I wld have left here before brexit if I cld have. I remember the last time labour got in I was unemployed I got a job my wife's wages went up within two years we were in our new bought house and our kid was in a brand new nursery we didn't have to pay for my wife's mother and father's wages went up and were paying less for their mortgage aye I think I'll stick with labour

@@J_Sca that doesn't even make sense, the majority of those people in the back are white. Secondly, the majority of Britain is white and if Labour won by a landslide, it would mean that a majority of Labour voters were white.

I can still remember Wilson and devaluing the pound, then Blair and Brown who spent what money UK had and increased the layers of political class with the failed experiment Devolution. We really cannot afford Labour, but Conservatives are really bad. This was not a victory for Labour, but a huge loss for Conservative party and UK in general. Starmer will swing like a flag in a storm. People who have never seen a Labour government will have a real awakening. "Imagine what we can do" what a quote.

Labour first, LibDems third and Reform only fourth😂 Shame, though, that NF, Tice and 30p Lee won seats. Places like Clacton and Boston are small, hot spot, intellectually challenged, Brexiteer towns, so not surprised. I pity though the residents of those towns who will be misrepresented in the House of Commons. NF and Tice, though, will be shouted down there. Parliamentarians aren’t as respectful of chancers as the European Parliamentarians were. Delighted that the obnoxious Ben Habib didn’t get in. Wellingborough doesn’t deserve him after formerly having had to put up with the equally obnoxious Peter Bone. Also delighted that Rees-Mogg. Finally, North Somerset constituents have got the LibDem MP they deserve. I’m looking forward to seeing a decent trustworthy government better things for Britons, and I hope that Reform never infect Westminster with any more MPs again. There is no place for racism or far-right ideology in this pleasant land of our’s.

Ironic how they wave the Union Jack celebrataring when this man and his party are going to turn their back on British values and the foundation our once great country was built on. I’m just glad I got to see Britain as it was, not even 30 myself and I fear for the younger generations’ future. Long live Britannia 🇬🇧🏴
