A movie and a half! One of my absolute favorites. Wonderfully beautiful, layered, ridiculous and tragique, classically poignant. We the audience sit safely in our homeseats and enjoy the Liaisons Dangeroux as they unfold before us. ❤ Merci

Excellent documentary; I have never got over my first experience of one of his films- The Grand Illusion, which is still my favorite- and the even greater Rules of The Game. Several of his films are personal favorites and although I seldom see a film more than once I have seen many of his many times; Rules of The Game is inexhaustible.

Aren't even our own lives a mystery to us? Can anyone but God ultimately know their meaning, since they form part of a tapestry that is far greater than we are able to grasp? These are the deepest questions we can ask about ourselves, and Renoir prompts them and somehow captures them in this film, in its mysterious and haphazard form and content. You can watch it over and over and it never gets old, but gets more meaningful and more mysterious with each viewing. What does it mean to be human? Why do we die when all of life is teeming with seemingly inexahustible meaning and energy around us? Is it life or is it death that is ultimately the "accident"? Because this film delves into these questions so powerfully, because it feels them in its bones, it is really inexhaustible in my opinion, and allows us to slowly but surely learn what it means to live a truly human life. Thanks for being open to such great art, and introducing it to many on this channel!

Wonderful documentary. There is a copy of "The Rules" here on KZfaq. The copy is in Italian and isn't very sharp but the film is so wonderful that it's easy to forget all these drawbacks. After all, KZfaq is like having a Cinematheque at home ⭐⭐⭐

OP I like that ytou're named after Truffaut's best film (or maybe second best after l'Argent de poche)
