Lacuna Coil is a band where the vocals are the focal point. Yes, these riffs are simple but they're SUPPOSED to be because they're meant to compliment the vocals (which they do well). The talent here is not about how much of a rock star shredder you can be, but how well you can work your role as a guitarist in with the rest of the band in order to MAKE A QUALITY SONG.

Absolutely, you hit the nail on the head. I listen to shredders all the time many are my friends and they can play some awesome licks but if it isn't MUSICAL it's just fretboard masturbation. I can't take more than about 10 minutes of an Yngwie show anymore, 10,000 notes per measure don't impress me nearly as much as 16 notes in a measure in contrapuntal harmony. Music is not about how fast you play but how musically you sound. Take David Gilmore, he can evoke more passion more with 6 notes than Yngwie can with a hundred thousand notes. It's not about speed its about timing and expression and dynamics and the interplay of each instrument and voice to achieve a special moment.

I have no clue why, but I like Christiano's three note masterpiece, no joke. It fits just perfectly with the song. I know it's simple, but it's brilliant sounding and sings.

I think they are playing in drop A on the low string and standard for the rest. I use drop A and drop D for my 2 low strings and it makes it real easy to play the intro lick and the power chords too.

Yes I think we all know and understand that there is very little being played...but lets not forget people that these videos are not to demonstrate the skills of the people that are playing...thats the bonus! These videos are made to show off the wonder that are emg pickups. This video was designed to express and demonstrate the depth and clarity of sound across the tonal spectrum that emg can provide while still maintaining a level of power and sustain...even while very little is being played.

@Ellinarkkari Truth, I commend you on this comment good sir, The point is creating a texture of sound. Which takes its own type of discipline. I love AAL but I also love when players use the guitar to create textures and atmospheres.

Have yet to hear a bad thing about stephens signature guitar yet.

On my Schecter 7 strings I use DiMarzio Liquifier on the bridge and Crunch Lab on the neck, basically the John Petrucci setup, in fact all 3 of my Schecters 7 and 6 string and my 2 USA Jackson's (6 string) use the same pickups, I love the power and drive and the low noise quality.

@metalmandan9 Well in my personal opinion i think the song sounds awesome when all is said in done. Yes just the guitars itself are kind of average. The song as a whole sounds good though. There are alot of bands out there that if you pulled just the guitars out it would sound kind of plain but when everything else is put together it sounds great and compliments each other. Thats why i said theyre conservative guitarist. They wrote it for the song rather than for the wow factor.

I mostly use a Kemper when I gig, but I also use a Marshall JVM410 with a full stack loaded with EV speakers or a vintage Mesa BOogie Mark IV or a vintage Fender Twin Reverb with Altec speakers if play a small club but now I just bought a USA 4X10 Hot Rod Deville that I am falling in love with. Sometimes if I go small I also use a Blackstar Club 50 head with a Marshall half stack with EV's. Mostly I play through FOH and floor wedges though so it really doesn't matter too much what I use for backline.

@godlikecharacta no he doesnt he uses emg 707s in his sigs and in his dvds he mentions his propensities towards emg and the reason they dont have tone knobs is because the pickups are wired to full so they dont have to have a tone knob to get in the way when i play i use mainly my ec-1000 the tone gets turned all the way up and it doesnt move for metal you dont need a tone knob really,do you play guitar? because my friend is a drummer and he hates companies just because of what people tell him

Yeah until he cashes his paycheck after the tour. No if you've ever played in an orchestra, each instrument plays a small part but together they build a magnificent sound, these guys are playing their parts as part of a bigger whole and when combined with the vocals, bass and drums they come out with a pretty cool tune. It was one of the first I chose for my new band because it features our male and female lead singers.
