I was at this game with my brother and his 2 sons in left field bleacher section 306- second row up from brick wall or homerun net. Thank you Brandon for buying the tickets and Brother Bob for inviting me to go and his other son Noah.

I was there with my husband. A memory of a lifetime. But boy did it get cold!! We left before the game ended.

@@jandy608 ESPN, they normally do the first game/home opener for the team that won the World Series the year before! Just look at this year (2024) with the Cubs vs Rangers!!! Of course that’s gonna change once their contract ends. I think they’re gonna stop showing MLB games either next year or 2026

I'm still confused on why Hendricks didn't get MVP. HE is the reason they made it to the WS AND the reason they won the WS. He pitched lights out in both games AND was the best pitcher in the whole MLB. The Cubs never give him the credit he deserves. Smh

honestly there could have been multiple MVPs on this team, Schwarber, Addison Russell, Arrieta, Hendricks, Zobrist, even Kris Bryant could have been considered, but I think they gave it to the right guy, every Cub played a role at some point in the World Series in helping end this curse, a forgotten one was Chapman getting rattled in game 7 and coming in to retire the heart of Cleveland's order 123 in the 9th, Cleveland had all the momentum in their favor at that point

Lee Smith confirmed he got one in the interview with Daily Herald as well. Being that he also worked as a roving instructor for the Giants when they won those three titles, that makes it four...

I only hoped the Chicago Cubs made an extra World Series Ring for the Caray Family in honor of Harry Caray. Also, Steve Bartman should have been there that day to throw out the first pitch.

Nick Solomon For one thing, Manfred hasn’t been commissioner as long as Goodell, so he has a relatively clean slate. That being said, if he implements some of the rules and changes that he’s talking about changing, (pitch clocks, limited pitching changes, starting extra innings with a runner at 2nd base) rest assured, he’ll be booed as much as Goodell.

When a franchise commissions a championship ring they can ask for additional ones for various personale. There's a few different cases of players requesting an extra rings to give to their old coaches or their fathers. Also lots of times if a prominent player retires the year before a Championship the team will give them a ring as well

No, they played the Dodgers on this day. It doesn't say who they played in the World Series, it's saying they held the ceremony before their game against the Dodgers. The Cubs did not play the Indians in 2017.

I know this is old, but some players received their rings at a later date. When the Cubs played the Cardinals in 2017 at Wrigley they gave Fowler his ring.
