Lady Gaga: Learn English with Movies | A Star is Born | Rachel’s English. Do you want to learn English and have fun too? Are you wondering about the best way to learn English while watching American movies and TV? Do you enjoy learning English by watching American movies? If so, let’s get to work. In this video, you’ll learn English by watching me deconstruct every nuance of spoken English used in a scene from A Star is Born. You’ll be able to understand and use the reductions you see in the scene and practice imitating the way Americans actually speak English. It’s the best way to learn English. And it’s fun too! You get to watch a great scene from a movie (that hopefully, you’ve already seen…if not, you should watch it!) and then deeply analyze all the spoken English in that scene. This deep-dive approach to learning English allows you to unpack the subtle nuances that make learning English so tough.

Rachel tells us about how to speak more confident in a natural way of saying the words, how to link the words among them smoothly and carefully by drawing our attention of what is going on in the native speakers conversations. Very good. I really appreciate her very much.

In French the vowel thinking is |ø| or |œ|, in the word "euh". There's a lot of linking on this scene "car right" (gemination), "tell him" and "thank you" (catenations). In English the vowels sounds are very important: can |kən| and can't |kæn|. Thanks Rachel. I'm learning a lot of things with you!

Great video Rachel! It helps me a lot!. I have some problem to understand movie's dialogues, but with your help I keep doing practice and progress!:) I like watching Netflix, but I use subtitles, when it comes to movie theater, it's a little challenging to me. Sometimes I think, why we don't have a technology like, when we speak with natives we don't see subtitles in front of their mouth 😊

Thanks in advance for your reply!

Thank you, Rachel! It was very educative. Here I would like to share some of my considerations. When she says "I remember", for my opinion the ending "ber" is simply overlapped with the first word of man's answer "Jack" (Jack sent me to pick you up). That is why the "ber" comes out almost mute. But if to replay this part in lower tempo (say, -50% or -60% of the normal) it can be definitely heard. An even more, I have noticed that the last sounds of the "ber" come out even after the "Jack". If gradually return back to normal it can be still heard. Nevertheless, probably it's a trick of my brain. And about the missing of /t/ sound in "we met last night" or "Um, but, I gotta.../, isn't it a sort of a glottal stop (but not in "gotta"), when /t/ is just to make it easier is pronounced without touching the roof of the mouth? Or is there no such the conception in American English?
@rachelsenglish
@rachelsenglish 3 жыл бұрын
