If she didn't stand up after being taken down, charge as fast as she could at a GIANT and then be able to kill him when already half dead. I'm sorry but that attitude did win that Battle, it was said if she hadn't done so they would have all been dead before Arya could have gotten to the Night king. That Giant and Viserion were the two biggest threats. That girl single handedly took the giant down. It took both dragons with riders to take down Viserion.

Lady Mormont ans Brianna of Tarth are exactly how you write a strong female. They're not "strong and independent" because they're women. They are strong and independent who happen to be women.
@Josh-99
@Josh-99 Жыл бұрын
This is wrong... and narrow. There's nothing wrong with writing a female character that is aware of her physical disadvantages and acts to the best of her abilities anyway, or that demands to be treated with equality despite her gender. That's pretty much exactly what is happening in this scene. The "Little Bear" knows that the women and children will be at a disadvantage in the fight to come, but she also knows that the dead won't "spare the women and children". She believes that everyone -- even those who are disadvantaged -- have the right to defend themselves, despite those disadvantages and despite those that believe the spears and training would be wasted on them. Similarly, a female character that doesn't have their gender as a core component of their personality isn't automatically a good character. Take Rey Palpatine from the Star Wars sequels as an example: the fact that she is a women, and a relatively small and slight one at that, is never brought up, regardless of how much or how little power she exhibits. But she's still a pretty hollow and one-dimensional character after the first movie (she was fine in the first move -- not amazing, just decently written).

Realistically speaking, she would probably be busy overseeing the every day household duties that a noble lady typically carries out. And for Winterfell, that's no minor job. It takes an army to keep things running smoothly for a castle that large with hundreds, if not thousands, of refugees. There's also wisdom in keeping one or two leaders in a safe place during a battle. Even an apocalyptic one such as this. Take Lyanna Mormont for example. I admire her for wanting to fight alongside her men, which is her right and her choice, but staying in the crypts would also be a wise decision as she is the lady and leader of her house.
@heyitssarah7545
@heyitssarah7545 Жыл бұрын
@@BluthsBananas Agreed. It was also a very, realistically speaking, dumb and selfish decision for Lyanna Mormont to fight in the battle knowing she was the head and future of her house. In the books she has sisters, but in the show, she is the last of her house since Jorah has been disinherited and cannot take up the lordship. Did she not consider the possibility of her death? What of the future of her house? Was she fine with it dying with her? Also, it makes no sense physically. She had training experience, but physically speaking, she’s a female child. There’s no getting around that. Her physique is naturally not going to be very durable. I mean, that’s proven too when she dies- she goes down fast. I understand wanting to defend your home, but she was one ten year old (maybe eleven or twelve by this point) who realistically did not make a huge impact in the battle. She killed a giant, sure, but her death really did nothing other than saw the extinction of her house with little major benefit to the battle. Anyone else could have killed that giant. The writers had her do it for a blaze of glory. It’s all in all a sad consequence of a hero complex, as admirable of a character as she is.
@heyitssarah7545
@heyitssarah7545 Жыл бұрын
@@BluthsBananas Additionally, about Sansa staying in the crypts, you’re exactly right. I’m a historian, and the whole point is to keep one of the first or second direct heirs safe to secure the line of succession. The Queen’s job would also be to keep the ladies and other nobility calm during sieges and manage resources in order to survive the long term. They put Sansa in the perfect position. As soon as I saw her in the crypt, it was perfect foreshadowing actually for her being Queen in the North- both historically and in-universe. Because she was among the old Kings of Winter when they rose again. Symbolic for the North becoming independent once more with her at its helm.
