I'd love to live near there. lol I live in the British countryside, but we don't have a field like that close to us. We do get the odd jumping spider though. :D

This was truly an amazing video. I have finally been able to see what their natural habitat is like. I have also realized that most, if not all of the keepers of this spider have the wrong set up. Giving it more of a tarantula set up with a more dry setting and no vegetation. Although I'm sure the vegetation is not a must. It's the dry, coco fiber and bark only set up seems unnatural. Anyways thank you for sharing this!

This is not a spider to have in captivity. Truly one of the many wonders of Heathland biodiversity and should flourish if Heathland environments continue to be preserved.
@LordNithilus5 ай бұрын
Different species, This one is from the U.K which prefers a more humid environment, a lot of different species of Velvet spider people keep tend to come from more Arid or dry regions.

Hi dears, I today found a site in Greece, with some of these Eresidae spiders. Took a pic of one of them. If you are interested... contact me. Sunday I'll be in this uncontaminated area again... just tell me if you need something.
@TheSFCjaymo3 жыл бұрын
Are they part of the jumping spider family?
@paulhetherington82493 жыл бұрын
No they are the only UK member of the Eresidae or Velvet spiders family

I fear for these spiders. Here in Dorset during the summer months, kids often start fires on the heathland 'for fun' causing the emergency services to scramble. Large areas of heath are often lost.
@boffgirl2 жыл бұрын
thankfully they are in an area the public do not have access too, and isn't one often traversed, plus kids would have to walk miles to reach this one without a car taking them there.

Afraid the exact locations are kept secret to protect the species as they are very vulnerable to footfall. There is an information centre and kids activity section about the spiders at RSPB Arne Nature Reserve

@chloeparker7887 Жыл бұрын
This isn’t fake
@helentee9863 Жыл бұрын
This isn't a ladybird. Ladybirds are insects (bugs/beetles). Ladybird spiders are are a rare type of arachnids (spiders) This video comes from the BBC's (British Broadcasting Corporation's) wildlife 'arm', from a program called Spring Watch that's been running every spring for about 15 years in the uk. High quality Public television (the kind of thing most countries don't bother to produce) NOT fake
