Can we take a moment to appreciate how cool Caldwell family is? Bobby Caldwell is a conman inside FBI, Molly Caldwell is a conwoman inside Interpol, Linus Caldwell is the son of these two conman and conwoman.

Remember the security guard in 11 that allowed them to take blueprints, or the stripper that was a pickpocket and got the guards keycard

@@Alvan81 Nope. Every bit of it was planned. LeMarc told Danny and Rusty that Toulour would be watching them from the moment the challenge started. So every bit of it was an act to make Toulour feel like the superior thief. By this point, the crew had already stolen the egg, and everything else was an act.

Should've had the gang all looking at her smiling (which is kind of how they are, bunch of rascals with nothing to lose) with Linus being the only one avoiding eye contact. Then with the reveal we can look back and understand they're smiling because they're looking at Linus's mom playing out this part of the plan.

Not explicitly told since it's not that important to the immediate plot, more like a "lore" element if you even consider that in these movies. But the simplest explanation is that Linus is from a family of con artists whom at the very least Danny knew Bobby (Linus's dad) prior in the first movie and was recommended Linus for the Benedict job without knowing Linus is Bobby's son until Linus told him at the bar. Then in 12 we get this one line at the end that establish Molly being the mom, her and dad are still very much in the picture and maybe she is an excellent actress with forged credential in what just transpired but we can't confirm. Then in 13 Bobby shows up as FBI agent in a similar reveal and Linus said he has the "greatest cover known to man" so it's likely Bobby's day job is for real. Which can lead to a similar stipulation that mommy's job here is for real too.

@@LightBrand It sounds a lot like the old samurai, some were actually ninjas as well, pulling off "bad" actions when their "good" actions weren't enough. Most likely, their identities as FBI are part of cover identities, meticulously done over the years, while still doing their jobs. Double lives.
