Last night I had the pleasure of hearing Ólafur play this piece at The Warfield Theater in San Francisco. He spoke of his wonderfully close relationship with his grandmother and how she had inspired his transformation to neo-classical music. After having played the piece, which he had written in her memory, he remained at the piano while gently wiping his eyes, finally extending his gratitude to the audience and saying goodnight. He had just filled the concert hall with loving music, now his eyes were filled with loving tears. What a gift of poignant music and raw truth from a dedicated, creative, and sensitive musician!

I’m more of a rock music guy but this really brings me back to my roots. My 2 year old loves this song. I think we might enjoy it more then him now.

Every time he plays, he is meditating. He slips into a state of such sensitivity and attunement that all willfulness is let go of as he allows the songs to play themselves. He has discovered the art of zen music! :P

I think that is more notorious on this album, the Living Room songs, which he composed and released in 7 days. It's less of a pattern in his other albums, maybe 2 or 3 songs have that 'quirk', however, I can hear it as well and agree with you.

This version is good but the "living room" strings version is the best.
