You will be at least a bit faster with regular ski and normal weight ;-) I was skiing with "Big Foot Trick" (75cm short ski) and only have a weight of 57kg, so this slows me down on flat slopes way more than others. But most of the time the slope is not steep, so it's definitely more for enjoying the nature than for speed-lovers, yes :D

Sadly I've never been to France so far. I guess Mont Blanc is a "must see", but I'm sure there are other very nice regions as well :)

You have to take the bus / ski taxis from San Cassiano to Passo Falzarego. At the pass a cable car goes up to the Lagazuoi mountain. From the top you can already see the slope dividing into two directions (see the start of my video), the right one takes you back to the cable car, the left one is the one I continue in the video. The end of the video is not the end of the slope, it continues passing beside ice cascades - I'm sorry that I didn't find the time to upload this part as well. It ends at a single house (restaurant / hotel I think?) from where you can either be taken back by bus / taxi or you continue on skies, but have to do "cross-country skiing" for 5-10 minutes until you reach a point where horses pull you on a long rope (dozens of people at once) the rest of this flat area, until you reach Armentarola. You can also do "cross-country skiing" the whole distance to Armentarola, but it's no downward slope anymore - it's a maybe 3 or 4 meters wide flat path. In Armentarola it's just one small T-bar lift bringing you back to the main-slope leading to San Cassiano valley station.

If you're a good and fast skier, it's possible in theory. But it highly depends on how crowded it is and how long you have to wait at the lifts. Also you have to time the busses. From Cortina you first have to take a bus or car to Falzarego pass. There you have to wait for the cable railway / ropeway to Lagazuoi. After having done the Sella Ronda, you still have to get back to Falzarego pass by bus or private taxis, either from Corvara or Armentarola. If you want to ski many different regions, an accommodation in Corvara or Selva di Val will be a better starting-point than Cortina. From there you can always do the Sella Ronda of course (but this is the most crowded), but also do trips to Santa Croce (Alta Badia), Marmolada (Arabba), Seceda (Val Gardena) or Ciampac (Val Di Fassa) for example just using your skis and lifts. But in this case you'll need a bus or car to reach Cortina or Civetta.

I have problems getting hotels, as it is very crowded. Possible to enter Sella Ronda and other trails from the Marmolada ski pass side?

@GalaxyTraveler, besides the Sella Ronda (since it's so crowded) what others would you recommend?

For this season, it will be hard to still find a hotel for sure yes, most people already book their hotel 1 year ahead. As "ski pass" you always need the "Dolomiti Superski" ski pass in order to do the Sella Ronda, since Sella Ronda covers different ski areas. But "Dolomiti Superski" is one for all. The village Arabba also would be a good starting-point directly within the Sella Ronda. I don't know how many hotels there are directly near Marmolada, if any, probably in Malga Ciapela? From there you also could use the lifts to Passo Padon, and enter the Sella Ronda via Porta Vescovo / Passo Pordoi in one direction, or via Arabba / Corvara in the other direction. Lagazuoi for sure is one thing you should have done 1 time, apart from that, if you're there anyway - don't miss the slopes of Cinque Torri. They're not many, but if you're not there during peak season, they're often totally empty and therefore fun to ski. The slopes in the ski areas of Cortina and Civetta also are less crowded than the ones in Sella Ronda and Marmolada - simply because they're harder to reach for most people that have their accommodation in one of the Villages of Sella Ronda. Sella Ronda can be seen as the main highway to reach most ski areas just using lifts and skis (no bus needed) within one day. As soon as you ski some slopes aside this highway, they're getting much more empty and often without any waiting at the lifts at all. In Val Gardena for example you could leave Sella Ronda on "Piz Sella", the slope downwards to "Monte Pana" (above St. Christina), but you'll have to use the poles because it's a pretty flat way in the end. From Monte Pana there's just one chairlift upwards, but 3 slopes (2 red and 1 black) back to this lift that are totally empty in off-season, this is nothing spectacular in regards of the landscape, but is really fun to ski if there are maybe 5 persons on the whole slope.

Short ski, but huge fun! :D If you're familiar with inline- and ice-skating, these behave way more similar on snow than regular ski. Acceleration works exactly the same way and you're able to turn curves with a very small radius. Actually not really an advantage on this slope, but it's easy to go for even the steepest ones with them.
