Today we are taking a boat ride from Lahaina, Maui to the beautiful island of Lanai. This was a day trip for us. If you plan on staying in Lanai, rooms start at $2,500 and go up to $25,000 per night. The boat trip takes about 45 minutes one way.
Lahaina (In Hawaiian translates to "Cruel Sun") was originally a small fishing village. Lahaina was chosen as the royal capital in 1820 by King Kamehameha II. It remained the capital until 1845, when Honolulu, on Oahu island, replaced it in that role.
