At 50:05 you made a mistake. Every other deejay would have fix it in post-production. But you don’t. You’re LL. Realest guy on the scene. Only respect for you, man.

I have a mix I want to upload and did the exact same thing miscounted and my snares were clashing but I just fixed it as best as I could on the fly and just played it out I’m scared to upload it. Lol. Cause I don’t fix things post mix when I record it live I put it up mistakes and all.

Love this set. I like how you can just feel the realness. Some of it is not so clean but you can tell this is a DJ just going on the fly and playing tracks that he’s feeling at that moment. That’s what being a DJ is all about. Play what you feel at that moment while catching the vibe of the crowd. Not some predetermined shit with cue points and sync buttons. Real DJ’s “L’s” up. Luke is quickly becoming one of my favorite DJ’s of all time. Much respect!

it was obvious he already sorted wich tracks he plays, u can see when he picks his next track that they are in ordor, but the mix is defently "on the fly" also u cant really blame him for organising this set, when he has to play the big tracks from 2017 in 1 hour

The best sets are the ones that you feel before you hear. This started off with a few rough patches, but you recovered HARD. and i could just see that you zoned yourself into the little world we like to go into when preforming. Insane, I’m always impressed! He doesn’t just mix but throws his style on it too which is so tough to do on the fly. That’s a ton of songs, rare to find too many DJ’s that can do this as successfully.

Why is songs per hour considered a good metric of the quality of the mix? Some of the best trance mixes I've seen had only 9 or 10 songs in an hour. All depends on the use of the tracks IMO

Rock Fox I agree, I bought a trance compilation by Gary D in the early 2000's. He upped the bpm and played each song for less than 45 seconds just so he could put "over 80 slammin trance tracks on two CDs" on the album cover. It was awful. I never listened to the second disc.

Always, always enjoy your sets and instructional videos. Help the slow movement into being a dj..not just a showman. This set is amazing on how you do it all on the spot and the interaction with whatever crowd you are in front of...small or big...enthusiasm is excellent. good luck and god bless in 2018!! hope to see you at UMF Miami, EDC Vegas and of course Tommorrowland!!!

So I am currently learning how to DJ. And started learning seamless mixing between tracks... But after watching your video I have learned sooo much. Live Mash ups mixing in with no cue points/sync. Inspiring. Will try this out :)

Luke you just set the bar, and hopefully trend of big name DJs to do live year mixes. As for the big names at least, you did it again. Other than it being an awesome year mix from others, it is still done via a DAW and not live. Keep it up!
