LL Is probably one of the few DJs there that deserve the MAD respect. Tiesto and Antoine are maybe two others I can name that are even close. This guy is a real beast and a long time DJ. I just transitioned from controllers to CDJs, beatmatching is easier on vinyls imo than on CDJs, so pulling this stuff so fluently isn't granted.

Next time, do this video but during an actual live set in-front of a crowd. So we can also see whats choices u make according the the crowds energy. Just my suggestion cause i feel thats whats most important as a dj. reading the crowd energy and adjusting ur set to it. you know what i mean? Anyways thanks for this video, literally watching this before my first gig at a Halloween party here in Toronto!

jerville1 dj set and live set are totally different. Live sets in general do not use CDJ and generally uses instruments like midi keyboard, synthesizers, Abetone live with buttons and tablets (you get the idea). They make their music live. Examples of ppl do/did live set are Daft Punk, Justice, Kygo, The Glitch Mob, Agents of Time, Kraftwerk, and many more. DJ sets uses CDJ and a mixer, which is majority of the EDM DJS/producers at festivals you see. Examples are LBL, hardwell, armin van burren, SHM, zedd, martin garrix, tiesto, avicii, Eric prdyz, Deadmau5, alesso, skrillex, diplo, etc.... Eric prydz & Deadmau5 did a hybrid live at during tommorrowland 2016. You could of easily google the difference between dj set and live set. People always label it wrong. Live set sounds and flows differently and not everyone can do it. What LBL is doing right now in the video is an example of a DJ set.

Hi Laidback, Wow this is great. This is really nice for beginners. As we can see what you think we can put actually ourselves into the same situation as you are. It helps me to see how to find a way in the complete mess I do when I mix and to see how I can and could have a way out. It gives a shot to technics that can be use to mashup and switch song, and this other than lpf and hpf, like the switch with an acapella or EQ playing. But we see that some like the scratching requires skills and experiments that some don't unfortunately have, well for the moment. I think it is the best idea to teach us how to behave in a live when we record, perform and even practice!!!! Now the greatest thing to do with it is to actually make max 20min for a mix and at the end take the most important moments of the mix and describe them, I mean explain what is going on which actions you chose to do what other possibilities you had and the things you shouldn't have done etc....... Thank you Laidback Luck you have for my opinion the best idea to teach us with this video what a dj must think. PLEASE DO MORE!!!!!!!! ;-) Thank You Future Vibes

Really don't get a comment like this. Think of guitar players. Hendrix has a different style to David Gilmour, he has a different style to Clapton and so on and so on. Not every DJ should be the same. Think about how boring it would be to have the same DJ playing the same style as everyone else. That's what makes dance music interesting

Depends on the style..musically and technically ... if You are mixing a spacey underground trance or a deep dub tech setfor example , with careful blended long transitions with a few minutes of fading time , then mid and hi may be more involved than 1/2 1/3 1/8 echo,dely,roll efx ... This kind of music he played in the tutorial could be mixed with the crossfader only....

@rogerxdby, might be good to know that I'm coming from a 15 year dj carreer, 3000+ vinyls at home etc. So then I wonder what difference does it make if a computer beatmatches your tracks, you look at the BPM counter or your ear does it? Of course it's a know fact that youngsters don't know how to beatmacht by ear but still, why not embrace this great feature in technology just for keeping it oldschool. Don't get me wrong, mad respect for LL and his realness in dj'ing.
@igothousemusicfever
@igothousemusicfever 7 жыл бұрын
Hey good to hear your practicing on beatmatching by ear, you will always be able to fall back and rely on it. As LL says, in the end it's not about the beatmatching, it's about how you interact, play and read your crowd while having fun doing tricks, mashing things up and take control over the energy levels in the room your playing.
@jessealfieri1426
@jessealfieri1426 5 жыл бұрын
@@rogermasc3659 are you kidding me the bpm is right in front if him he is not really matching beats! He is adjusting the pitch til the numbers line up. Unless you are using turntables and vinyl you aren't really matching beats. Sync button is the same thing. I can match beats using records and I don't hate on the sync button, but you are obviously far more talented cause you can make sure two numbers are matched. Lets see you spin some vinyl before you talk shit!

Amazing video. For someone who has used 1210s since 1994 and just transitioned to CDJs it’s a great way to see some of the possibilities with creativity. Whilst I love vinyl, CDJs allow so much more quick transitioning, effects and general mashing of tracks to an extent that people think many are remixes. Top notch LL!

Although I've been a professional solo artist for 20 years, I'm just starting out DJing. I have to say this is a very intuitive video and I hope to see more. Great job, Luke!

Kuya Luke! I am from way south of the Phils but I spent all my savings to watch you perform in Manila during the Viber Independence Day event. I've been DJing for more than 5 years now and you have inspired me since then! From your song selection to your mixing techniques. I always let aspiring DJs from here watch your 'Real DJing seminar' as it also taught me a lot! Looking forward to more of this kind of vlogs for me to continually learn more. Cheers!

Came here by HH. Not my typical music but still a nice track selection. It's great to see someone that's actually still mixing live and not just pressing play on a premixed set. I'm surprised you don't have more subs, i've subbed. Keep it up! Awesome mixing.

Great one! I can see the stress level on your head. No wonder why most DJ's on festival have premade sets.

Great to see an honest set with mistakes and all, it shows the public the job we do and how we aren't just button pushers. Respect to you.

This was totally awesome to watch you do this and see the commentary. I've been a huge fan for years and years, and this commentary alone helped me understand more about your approach and how you mix than anything I've ever seen you do previously. I would love to see a lot more of this, maybe even longer sets, too.

Dj great video. I've been watching your vlogs the past few days and its just ridiculous the amount of knowledge I've gained. Tbh, the first video i saw of you was the hour long seminar, and I was not moved. But somehow someway you still brought me back in. Thanks so much for all the help in 2018!

Do you have any videos mixing hip hop or scratching with hip hop? If not, id love to see one of those. Really want to learn how to use the EQ's correctly when blending hip hop and trap. I really really want to do house music, as well as all genres the more I watch your videos.

BIG Fan Mr. Luke, got to know of you from your hour long seminar on KZfaq, great job with that one by the way. And yes I would be Glad to see some more Tutorials from you, though I have to say that this one was a little to fast for me and to have you explain in voice what you are doing and going to do I believe could be a better way to go, I myself am an intermediate LVL Dj and I've been doing it only as a hobby for myself. I've watched quite a few Dj tutorials for some time until now and to have more teachings coming from a DJ Master like you would be a Great Opportunity for me and for others I'm sure. Cheers Cheers.

Thanks a lot for this video! It was really helpful to know the thought process that goes into DJing especially when you have to think on your feet. I have recently discovered your channel, and it's been a big inspiration and educational source for me. I also think that your sense of humor in the videos make it fun to watch. Thank you for your time and effort.
