OUT WITH WAYNE AFTER A LONG BREAK. WE HEADED UP TO THE LAKES LOOKING FOR SNOW. AND WE FOUND IT.
EXPERIENCE TOLD US TO STOP WHEN THE BLIZZARD HIT. LUCKILY WE WERE ON QUITE A FLAT AREA. SO WE SET UP AND BATTENED DOWN.
THE MORNING BROUGHT FIERCE WINDS AND 45-50MPH GUSTS. SO WE GOT PACKED AND AWAY. PROPER WINTER CONDITIONS AND A GOID TEST OF OUR GEAR. AND OUR RESOLVE.

I just had my vern 1 new tent back and cant wait to get out there as soon as I have a chance, I live in South Wales and plenty of places here to camp out and i'm not to far from Brecon and can see the mountains from the top of the mountains where I'm living, and the other day I noticed snow there. Anyways we enjoy seeing your camping adventures keep them coming 👍

It was great. Hard to walk in but amazing. Knowledge comes with experience. You have to get out. And keep going out. Upgrade your gear as you need. It’s the Only way 👍

No idea why but yesterday I was thinking about Skiddaw 🤔 I camped in between it and little man years ago when I first bought a water filter and broke it the first time I tried to use it. I was going to follow the Bob Graham round backwards but only did the one night 😂

Wow seriously heavy snow there Andy mate, that was great man! It looked bitterly cold up there too, hats off to you both and hats off to you for making that split second decision to pitch up and not push further up. Great food, great tent, fab conditions and the beers looked nice too yo!

Yeah real snow at last Ant. 🐜 waited 2 years 😂. A wise decision I reckon. we literally couldn’t see anything it was all white. So yeah. The ground felt level and stable so we just went for it. Great spot as it turned out. A good camp this mate. One to remember hope you’re well Atb 👍

Loving it, total white out! We were in Glenridding on 3 March and the weather was brilliant, like a summers day with snow. Both the air pump and hand warmers were real good, especially in that weather and just as well you are a genius or you would have still being waiting for that cup of tea now! Have to say, do not know how you can drink ice cold beer in that weather, you stomach but be radiator lined! Cannot be too safe with chicken, last think you need is a dodgy gut in that weather. Amazing morning views and while you were up high we were walking towards Helvellyn on the valley floor, before turning back when Mrs Metalman had enough and wanted to go to Keswick. Nice to see a proper winter camp, cheers Alan

Was mint mate. Lots of snow. Good testing conditions. We beasted it. The wind in the morning was mad though. Yeah genius hack for the stove. Firemaple need to look at that. I’m out again now in the Cheviots. Hand warmers working well. Cooking a nice meal. Hope you’re well. Ice cold beer is good for ya man. 😂 I Mis counted. I took 4 home. 😖😖 Atb mate 👍

Great video and conditions! Love to do a winter camp in similar conditions but haven't got the appropriate gear to take along , I've a serious health issue which is gonna keep me off the peaks for probably the rest of the year minimum so hopefully be able to do a winter camp next year , hope you don't lose your finger with that cut you had 😂

Cheers. Nightmare mate. Hopefully you will get out for the next snow. It’s a different level. Just warm gear needed. Hot water bottles a good idea. Also make sure your tent won’t let the snow in underneath it. Yeah I was almost killed with my finger. It was touch and go 😂 Atb. 👍

Mint like, nice to see you, to see you nice, you did loads of snow camps last year I think🤔 and they were alot windier and looked alot colder, but watching this I felt the cold. That alcohol stove set ups mint hew, wasn't a big fan of using alcohol stoves but I bought one and I specially use it for boiling my kettle, I am thinking about investing in that cook set, dies it not plough fumes into the tent though?

I did loads of snowy cold camps but this was special. Nice deep snaaaarrr. I love the stove. Wasn’t a fan but I’m converted. The fumes are ok. It’s burning bio ethanol which is clean. Keep ya flaps open though. Matron. I’m not sure when it’s available like. They haven’t released it yet. Keep a had. Can be reached via text. I’m off insta ye see. 👍

😂 here’s me surviving for life. 😂 I’ve been wildcamping since I was a kid. We had an old canvas tent. Used to pitch anywhere. Different in those days. I just picked up where I left off about 10 years ago.

Hi - great video. I was just in the Cairngorms with driving snow overnight. Loved it. How much condensation did you get in the Soulo? I got quite a bit as I couldn't keep top vent open as snow was coming in

Loads. I was cooking inside as well as stopping the snow. So I was on a loser from then. The wind changed direction so the snow came in every time I opened the door. It’s just all part of it. Cairngorms in snow is mint. I remember my night up there. 😖😖 Cheers for watching mate. Atb 👍

It came down thick above the tree line. It was a surprise but we knew it was coming. The new zero pump link in des. But it’s really 100% improvement on the original. Very good. Just warm your hands 😂

Stupid question but how do you get the pegs in or out in the rock solid ground in those conditions, do you lug a mallet about with you ...?. Great vid as usual thanks...

We dug down to the ground and luckily it was yielding. So the pegs went in ok. If it’s hard ground then I use a handy Rock and bash them in. Get good spikes like eastons or alpkit spikes. I use the alpkit ones. 👍

It never froze that hard but our hands went numb trying to get the buggers out that hot water bottle trick helped get the feeling back though and used it to warm my boots up in the morning cant remember who's video I got it off works a treat

@@waynesanderson3445 Aye, great tents but not as good as they used to be. The older ones like yours and mine were better constructed. I have a Baltoro (which is a quasar knock off) and an old Vortex. The newer ones are a tad too "ultralight" for my liking. I've got loads of tents.......need to think about getting some of them flogged soon. Lightwave and Crux tents are imperious too, if you get your hands on them. ATB fae Motherwell pal. BTW, AW is proper mental........brilliant channel.....mad, absolutely mad.
