Thing is about fires they come not randomly if a forest has produced so much fire fuel the fire naturally helps. It’s a system if the Forest has become to dense the Fire comes through and restarts the process.

Our Rate of Spread was 800 yards every minute, and faster than that as it raced up the West Branch Feather River Canyon and in to Paradise Ca. in 2018. That canyon is a mile wide, and where it burned about a mile deep to the river from the top. Severely steep terrain. LedHed Pb 207.20 🎶 🎸 🎹

What would Southern California be without a wildfire ? Answer: a lot prettier.
@wannabetowasabe4 жыл бұрын
The climate, vegetation, topography, soils and a couple others make this a fire dependent ecosystem. It has burned periodically for thousands of years. I'm well educated and experienced with the fire ecology of western forests, but not as familiar with southern California chaparral fire ecology, other than to be assigned to fires there. The green is good, black is bad perspective has done a lot of damage over the past 100-150 years. The problems in southern California are there are more fires and more burning in intense fire conditions than was probably natural. The latter because of human caused fires that burn during the most intense fire weather conditions, such as the Santa Ana wind events. There's been some research relative to changes in vegetation species as a result, but that is the extent of my knowledge of it. We suppressed all fire for about 80-100 years and are now paying the price for interrupting the natural role of fire in ecosystems. The higher elevation forests (5,000 to 6,000 feet and above) are where my time and education as a graduate forester (BS degree) occurred.
@antonbruce12414 жыл бұрын
@@wannabetowasabe Excellent analysis.I loved it. One must add, however, not only the ecology but the topology as well. See, most people thin southern California is flat - it is hardly flat. There are many mountain ranges (mostly from seismic forces over the last million+ years), and some of these ranges are quite high and rather steep - including the range where this fire is currently burning - making them mostly natural chimneys which will funnel large flames into very bad topography from a fire fighting point of view. Add to that the type of weather we get here in summertime - very hot (90 to 100+ F), dry conditions (humidity less than 20%) and high winds. Think of adding a match to a pile of kindling as to what those condition can do. As to this fire, it is currently burning in an area which has not burned in at least 65 years, so with the growth over the last few years - we have had some periods of heavy rains over the last few years - and the brush (and in this case, trees as well), becomes that kindling I mentioned just previously. And no, my degree is not in forestry, but in I.T. But you live here long enough (50+ years in my case), and you learn to study things. I'm also pretty good with seismic geology as well.
@wannabetowasabe4 жыл бұрын
@@antonbruce1241 Thanks for the comment. I think you are referring to "topography" not "topology," which is a branch of mathematics.

Praying for all! 2 Peter 3:10-18, " But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of Him in peace, without spot, and blameless. And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and for ever. Amen." Revelation 1-22, Isaiah-Malachi.....2 Thessalonians 1:7-9

Where is it where are the 100s of helicopters and planes that should be dropping water on this fire. Corruption, greed and a total lack of respect for nature and its value. Please start to request the retrofitting of 100 helicopters from the US Military for California so they can be used to address this issue that is recurring every year and will only increase.
