Nice one Kevin, I particularly liked the commentary telling us exactly what is happening. Great that you can still go fishing with your dad!

+Kevinohanlons you are so right. When they go, it leaves a massive hole in your life. Be good to the old boy, put him onto the best fish while you still can...

good video Kevin, i like it when you show the flies... is your green beetle made from Foam..? I wonder if it would work in the UK
@Kevinohanlons8 жыл бұрын
+Nigel S Yes, my no hackle beetle pattern is made of foam, but I also tie one with a hackle!

Hi there, +Kevinohanlons another great video. I have just started fly fishing and was wondering how you decide whether to use a wet or dry fly when fishing. Thanks.
@Kevinohanlons8 жыл бұрын
+Albert Bell Hi Albert, normally it's a decision made based on what activity is occurring at the time! For example, if the fish aren't rising then most likely they will be feeding sub surface as trout rarely cease feeding for lengthy periods of time, except perhaps during spawning or stressful conditions such as low flows and floods! This means it's nymphing or wet fishing that should be employed to target the quarry! However, when the trout can be seen actively rising then a dryfly, or emerging nymph pattern, would be the answer for me....the rest basically comes down to the presentation of a sufficient artificial! Cheers, Kevin

I was past there yesterday as boat crapped out high up on Coleridge so walked out. Inspires me to start to fly fish . I have a rod and reel etc. where do I learn to cast and fly fish
@Kevinohanlons7 жыл бұрын
Hi Carl, if you are serious about fly fishing I would go and talk to the lads in the fishermans loft, they used to run fly fishing schools and may still do. Fly fishing, once mastered is easily the most productive form of trout fishing, and lots of fun!

i was up there fishing this lake about 3 days ago and im only 14yrs old and i was using a spinner rod with a bobble and a little green beetle fly on the end because thats what i was told works but i had no luck do you have any advice that could help me catch fish?
@Kevinohanlons6 жыл бұрын
Swap the green beetle for a black gnat, it's a much better option
@aidanbrackmann76366 жыл бұрын

What did that guy say when he pulled up on the road side the guy with the jet boat as you were beaching the trout? Sounded like he said bit small & drove off which would be a bit rude
