@@ieangler --- I really should dust off my gear and drive up to the lake one morning and throw out a line. Those Lightning trout look so cool. Are they good eating? I know the Rainbows are and the Calaveras are good for farmed, (nothing like a Eastern Sierras German Brown or big ones that look like Salmon as for taste) You know we used to use the crayfish that we'd catch in Gregory for bait and there was a local dude who was probably in his 30s when I was 9 or 10, that lived year round up there I think his name was Maynard and he hand made lures for the Rainbows that was a small arched rectangle piece of stainless steel or maybe aluminum polished like chrome with that old school rainbow sticker reflective tape that was used for bumper stickers and things in the '70s with a swivel on one end and a trouble hook on the other end. He said to use a mini marshmallow or Zekes garlic cheese bait and bury the hook in either one of those and that lure worked. He had to have sold a thousand of those lures back then. They were stocking the lake with cats, rainbows, carp, some crappies, maybe some small mouths, I think that was about it. Not much fight in those farmed fish back then. These days the fish suppliers are putting good big fish from other states that are more aggressive. I moved from LA to San Jose, Santa Clara in '95 for 6 years and my buddy and I would have our poles in our trucks at all times and we got off work at 3:30 pm so we would meet at one of the perk ponds that are everywhere there or to the local dams and we were fishing fools. We'd fish til it got dark two three times during the week and then go to a lake up in the Bay area and spend a Saturday or Sunday renting a row boat and we had our own electric motor and we had a hummingbird fish finder, drinking some beers Bass and Cats. I've got 3 Ugly Sticks and a couple other rods for ocean fishing, and for fresh water, bait casters and spinning. We were going to pet stores and buying pinky rats and mice, small frogs and salamanders for live bait for the bass and the cats. Like I said we were fishing fools. I live in Downtown LA now. Near Echo Park and Silverlake close to Dodger Stadium. Lots of places to fish in the San Gabriels that I've never been to and I could be at Gregory in an hour or a little longer but not much.

@@13_13k you really should bro, the fishing is great up here and the scenery is amazing . Always feel like I’m in Oregon when I go up there . As for the lightning trout they 100% taste better in my opinion . I feel like you can 100% taste the difference between a regular bow and the lightning

@@ieangler It’s been a great year here . Tons of nice trout and beautiful streams and lakes . I’m sure you would have a blast in West Virginia. Take a trip to Petersburg area you will notice tons of places with an hour or so drive from there are stocked weekly . When you research area you can see on wvdnr page they have interactive map that shows where the streams are stocked . Also everyday around 3:30 pm they announce the places stocked each day. Early in spring late winter is when most of the big brooders are stocked 20-30 inch fish. Later in spring the average fish size increases though so both times are good . I’m going up to Canann valley tomorrow morning to fish Blackwater river it’s called and then dry fork as well. That area is so high up in mtns the forest look like southern Canada.

Sorry for the late reply , yeah you do but they don’t check bro & head you can keep 5 fish and use two rods per angler . 10$ to fish there per person you can just pull up and start your fishing
