Lake Mead Drought Update - A Lot Of Water Is Gone! | Nazi Plot At Hoover Dam

Today I'm back out at Lake Mead to see how far the water has gone down in some of the areas I visited a month or so ago. A visit to Hoover Dam shows what was the concern in WW2.

I remember as a girl in the 60s on camping vacations, and one trip to Hoover Dam. It was FULL of water and was so big, even mom and dad were blown away by the sheer scale of the place. 1963 Ford Mercury pulling a Layton 13' trailer with all 4 kids along. Great memories!

@@314biggy No such thing. We just know it's a mess now. I'd prefer information, forensics and airplane safety any day. No time is better. Just different. Ignorance is bliss to some. I say the best is yet to come when every disease is cured and have a personal robot I can send to work for me while I get to live the real good life any day. No we aren't destroying the planet and getting worse. That's that left over New Age nonsense that lead to neighbor fearing neighbor and discounting neighbor. Some may say it's better now if you turn off the greedy media. They have to make up calamity to maintain that old "glory days" money from the crime wave eras. The 60's had drugs, the counterculture (precursor to today's mess) and serial killers (Directly spawned through the Counterculture motto of "Anything goes")... Those Counterculture kids back in those days were absolutely sick and it's no wonder it's so normalized now. Not such a better time now is it? A very ignorant time where we were forced to grow up too fast as a society sadly.

Gosh brought back memories of 84 when the water at the dam was overflowing. I actually remember seeing fish go over the spillways I have pics somewhere. Hopefully one day Lake Mead can be full again. Great editing Marc. As always. 💯🙂👍

I grew up a mile below a dam built by New York City. It was built in the early 1950's and I have seen since then, its either full and running over the spillways, or so dry the foundations of houses are above water and bridges (concrete) were high and dry which are usually a couple hundred feet underwater. Then we would at some point get rain and snow which would fill the lake again. The lake is only 18 miles long when full. I realize its in a much wetter part of the country which helps. And NYC draws a limited amount of water from it, not endless development of homes, business and golf courses and crop farming like in the Hoover dam area. Every time I fly into Vegas, I always get a seat on the side of the plane where I can see the lake level, and the bath tub ring.

@@iworkout6912 The South West is not getting the rain or snow as much anymore to replenish the lake. Usage has not gone up drastically regardless of homes or golf courses. There is much more conservation now than in the 80's when there was full pool.

Lake Mead will never be full again. I don't want to get all Environmental on ya but we humans just don't seem to be able to wrap our heads around the fact that quite literally _nothing_ we build will ever be more than temporary in the face of the ravages of natural forces. Dams and reservoirs are by their nature, if not ephemeral (by human chronology) then certainly only temporary. We have irrevocably caused a still-continuing rise in global temperatures, with the result that the climatology of the American West is and will remain hotter and drier. This is why Lake Mead will never be full again. But I sometimes think that far too many people aren't going to take it seriously enough until the moment their taps run dry and their power fails.

Those people depending on the lake for electricity will not panic and try to relocate until there is no chance of escape without significant loss of property and wealth. that is the nature of "people" and mobs. At this point of this slow moving disaster, high mortgage rates, and inflation unloading a house in the affected areas is close to zero. good luck? they will need it.

The area of ground with all the deep cracks was the muddy bottom of the lake, and as it slowly dried out the material contracted forming those cracks slowly getting wider and deeper until everything was like it was today. I saw this happen myself at the local lake near the house I grew up in when they had to drain it for several months to perform maintenance on the dams that are used to create the lake. The ground never quite reached that state before the engineers were able to reflood the lake, but the highest sections did start to dry out and look like that before the water level reached them again.

You didn't mention that about a week ago the Bureau of Reclamation gave the 5 states that draw water from Lake Mead 2 weeks to come up with Emergency Conservation Plans. So it appears that they will turn back the tap so to speak on how much water will be drained from the Lake very shortly going forward. So pretty soon we won't be seeing quite the drastic receding on a weekly basis like we are now

The water in Lake Mead on Wednesday reached a new low - 1070.6 feet above sea level - since it was filled in the 1930's, according to data provided by the US Bureau of Reclamation. More precisely, every day for the past eight days has been a record as rapid evaporation and human use siphon water from the reservoir.

I've got pics of me and the ex at the dam in 1998 and it was full. Remember the wise words- "Matter is neither created nor destroyed, just merely transformed." All that water went into more human beings, more animals, more bugs, more trees, more plants, etc, etc. Another thing a lot people dont think about is the 3 Gorges Dam over in China and the amount of water it is holding behind it. Some of that could very well be evaporated Lake Mead water that has circumnavigated the globe on jet streams and such. Water doesnt know national or international boundaries. Also, the 3 Gorges Dam is allegedly some 8 times the size of the Hoover Dam and to make all that concrete to build it, tens of millions of gallons of fresh water were used and "locked up" in all that concrete until it can dehydrate out, which will take years to happen. Keep up the good work! I'll see you down at the 4Queens one of these nights again!

Colorado is one state, there was also North Carolina and Virgina. Just saying and wondering if this could be a reason for the water getting low at Lake Mead...from the Colorado end. Also, when we’re you a kid going to the dam with the water up that high? Yeah, the Nazi's wanted to blow up Horseshoe Curve too (The Train Tracks) but it never happened either. We can look back at the Dust Bowl years 1930-1939, at that time Boulder Dam (Hoover Dam/Lake Mead) was being built 1931-1937?
