LGJ had the highest regard for VR. Romba gettikarar is how he described him. After the demise of the great PSP, VR filled the void with a nadam very similar to that of PSP. And that is why the Mahavidwan MMI chose VR to be his preferred accompanist. Even the contemporary vidwans could not match VRs nadam. Keep it simple was how VR approached his play. Not that he could not play for laya ridden music of AB or Nedanuri, who would employ lots of nadais.

Omg! The handsome ‘devil’! 😀😀 (it is just an expression)! I bet he was less than 28 years in this photo! Per his Biography ‘Incurable Romantic’ - around that age he shed Kudumi; and a little later, his ‘kadukkan’! 🙏🙏
