@cryptaku3404

@J Money One of those years he got "exposed" he was a rookie. You guys keep forgetting that Lamar is still a young QB. Not everyone is Patrick Mahomes or Joe Burrow. They thought this kid couldn't even PLAY in the league. But he's won 73% of the games he's played and his team is consistently in the playoffs. That's an absolute win compared to 3 of the QBs who were drafted ahead of him. The only QB drafted ahead of Lamar that he's not objectively better than is Josh Allen, and even that's debatable depending on your criteria.

The reason the owner are stubborn is that there are very little consequences for their mistake. For coaches and GMs if they made a mistake drafting a player or sign the wrong FA, they may lost their jobs. But for owners it doesn’t really matter. It amazes me how owners consider fully guaranteed contracts are bad for the league, yet the NFL is the most brutal sport. Also, how everyone wants to talk about Jackson's injury history but no one will point out the system that they have him in. Because they want to get by while doing the bare minimum. No one really believed in Lamar being a QB but the Ravens and he's since met & in part, exceeded expectations since the draft. The Ravens (& these greedy owners) are willing to tank their franchise instead of just paying his worth.

If you the tiniest bit about football, you'd know teams always stack the box against lamar because of his running threat, and because the ravens always have excellent o-lines and running game. @ThomasFromTN
@ThomasFromTN Жыл бұрын
@@swelly84 You addressed. So did Nick Wright, when he injected narrative about the Curt Flood/Colin Kaepernick sagas into this conversation. Which is this...the reality is...unless Lamar is knowingly risking falling on his sword, knowingly and willfully risking his career for the sake of making a statement...Lamar must fully appreciate that he may LEAST OF ALL be the benefactor even if he succeeds in initiating a change in how players' contracts in the NFL are negotiated. I've always regarded the "non-guaranteed" contingency in NFL contracts as ludicrous, bordering upon being unethical if not outright illegal. And that it's the stance made ostensibly by White billionaire owners where countenancing how to leverage optimal negotiations with ostensibly a league predominantly populated with Black players...that has not been lost on me, at all. [Same deal with big-time college sports i.e. football and basketball, with millionaire coaches juxtaposed with players risking suspension even expulsion for accepting so much as a candy bar as a whimsical gratuity.] All that being said...I'm not certain Lamar has the leverage to personify the most compelling case study for why the nature of NFL contracts (contracts not really being what they are reported or purported to be) should and may be compelled to change its mind where these White owners see fit to revisit how they negotiate with a precipitously Black populated "labor force." His resume over the past two years, and even allowing for the fact of his having been injured, is most generously to be denoted as spotty. What may unfold, as best outcome for players, I'm afraid...is that Lamar is, unwittingly or not, going to become the sacrificial lamb who dually represents the impetus, long term, that breaks the grip White owners hold where leveraging salary negotiations. It is vital that Lamar appreciates this as a very plausible outcome, a la Flood and Kaepernick. So long as Lamar recognizes this very plausible fallout for his stance...I wish him Godspeed. If he does not...or, worse, if he is failing to objectively ascertain the terrain whereby he's taking his position...it is imperative he takes heed of the consequences befalling those before him who felt moved to adopt their climate jarring positions.

Bro, everyone is talking about Burrow and Herbert getting contracts and helping Lamar. I trying the opposite is likely. There's been rumblings Burrow is going to take a deal that's very good for the Bengals. Herbert is the type of guy to do the same. It's entirely likely they both take home town discounts and Lamar is left out in the cold with the newest benchmarks being nowhere near what he's wanting.

If you truly want to brake the fully guaranteed dam, it can’t be the tier 1 guys, have every tier 3-4 guy only play on guaranteeing money. It might be a couple years of “smaller” money but as the cap moves up keep moving the guaranteed money up with every deal after its league wide common place

I'm not comparing the players here but Kirk Cousins has taken a bunch of shorter contracts for 3-4 years at a time and he's killing it in terms of earning compared to QBs who took longer deals. If Lamar believes in himself he should have taken the 3 year 133M deal and allowed himself to cash in again when QB market value continues to swell.

Confused why Nick is so stuck on the idea he's done in Baltimore. The same day he tweeted the trade request, Ian Rapaport confirmed that the Ravens and LJ were still negotiating. If he truly felt the relationship was over and did not want to be there, why is he discussing anything about a contract that would keep him in Baltimore? It's a negotiation tactic. Try and show teams that feel the Ravens will match any offer that the relationship is over to try and entice them into making an offer.

The problem with Lamar is that he’s had a strange career trajectory. Most QB’s progressively get better on their rookie contracts. By contrast, Lamar started out at the top of the league and has significantly regressed since then. It kind of seems like defenses figured him out and he’s been unable to adapt. It just makes him very hard to evaluate from a contract perspective. Very short body of work and it’s not obvious that he can actually replicate his 2019 success. Lamar places emphasis on his MVP while GMs/owners place emphasis on his inconsistency the last two seasons. And contracts are more about where you’re heading than where you’ve been. Is Lamar still an elite top 5? That’s the problem. Who knows. Ultimately he’s going to have to play again this year and prove that he’s still an elite QB. Or accept a lesser contract.
