Curry night is something we all look forward to, a nice spicy feast and a good film is always a good thing. It can be expensive though, especially if there's a few of you. A couple of dishes each when ordering for a family can really mount up. So I came up with this budget beating lamb meatball curry that costs a fraction of any takeaway. You can actually make this even cheaper if you want, by swapping the lamb mince for pork or beef. This lamb meatball curry will feed 3 people with sides maybe 4 if you have smaller appetites.
#kofta #curry #costofliving
To make my lamb meatball curry you will need:
For the meatballs
►500g of lamb mince
►2 tsp ground coriander
►2 tsp ground cumin
►1/4 tsp of chilli powder
►2 tsp ginger garlic paste
►Salt
For the sauce
►1 large red onion
►1 medium sized courgette
►1x400g can of chopped tomatoes
►2 tsp of ginger garlic paste
►1 tsp turmeric
►2 tsp ground coriander
►1 tsp chilli powder
►2 tbsp garam masala
►1 bay leaf
►A small handful of fresh coriander stalks and leaves
►Salt
►2 tbsp of oil for cooking
Serve with rice, roti or in this case a hoofing great naan!

Mostly it's about knowing how the spices work. For instance too much turmeric and it taints the whole thing and becomes bitter. Also making sure you cook them out enough but careful not to burn them. Practice makes perfect, you'll get there mate

@@Adam_Garratt Completely. I think of alot of people forget garam is a finishing mix since it's already toasted and can make a dish bitter if you mess up

first of all I just found you from the review you did of the air fryer lol. I’m ordering it from Amazon tomorrow. You have serious talent and a knack for social media. I’m shocked you don’t have a huge following. start a TicTok account. Do these recipes quickly then direct them all to KZfaq for more comprehensive videos. You are humble. You can’t fake it. I’m really enjoying your affordable series. In fact I far prefer it over your other videos. It’s because this seems to bring out your personality. You’re hilarious and I love it!! Losing your job was definitely a sign from the universe to make content full time. Expand onto other platforms. I think a great idea for a series is making affordable dinners for living alone. Teaching young people these recipes and how to freeze them. ❤ I’m in Toronto 🇨🇦🇨🇦

Years ago we never put cheese in the fridge anyway. Kept under the lid of a cheese dish. Sometimes you'd get a bit of mould which you scraped off. I survived! Also, wrap cheese loosely in saved cereal 'paper'. Stops it drying out and is better than using clingfilm.

Hello there, Mr. Adam! This dish looks wonderful! AND loving the new fridge. LOL! Hope you were able to turn the other one into your beer fridge. OR throw it on it's back and fill it up with ice and chill the beer that way! Which curry is my favorite? Well, to be honest, I've not had much luck with trying different curries. About the only thing I can think of that I've put curry in is that chicken Rice-a-Roni recipe, and when I add it to the yolk mixture when I make deviled eggs. Those two are really good. Alas, I will venture out and try to prepare these other types of curries, even though I am more of an umami, garlic, spicy sort of person. 😉 Thank so much for the video and recipe! Give Mr. Mogs a hug and squeeze for me! Love it when he chats at you about making him some dinner! 😻 Take care and be safe! ☺💖🙏

I got it from my local foreign supermarket, but I imagine they sell them in other places. The naan itself was really good and pillow soft. The brand is called the golden spike & sun bakery

One to save! I know that you said parsley in error, but it can be an acceptable substitute (in flat leaf form) for coriander (cilantro for the USA), especially for those who can't stand it because it tastes like soap to them.

Never tried a lamb Ruby Murray Adam, looks delicious & once again you have explained it superbly, love your spice kit, must try this but need spices first.Much better than paying a fortune for a takeaway Adam, and healthier as you know what's going in & you get more in quantity at the end of the day, could I freeze this and make a big batch?

Cheers mate. A tio for you when buying spices, which mentioned in previous videos as well. Don't buy from supermarkets as they are a rip off. Go online or better still go to your nearest Asian store. You'll get them cheaper, and better quality. An example, is I bought a 70g bag of bay leaves for £1.65, whereas a small 10g pot from the supermarket was £2. And all I do is decant into tupperware containers and what I need for my spice tin. Or if it's a small bag, I just fold it over and pop a clothes peg on it. And yes you can freeze it. I buy those little takeaway containers from the poundshop and portion it out, then thaw when I want a meal and reheat

@@dominicwilkinson5417 If you can't find the tin, just ask for a masala dabba tin. Usually between £5 - £10. Another tip, label the little pots with what you put in them else you might forget and can't identify them, especially if you're new to spices. As for spices to keep in it, you can put in whatever but I use the staples. Cumin, ground coriander, turmeric, garam masala, chilli powder. Any spares you could add cloves, whole cardamon, mustard seeds, whatever you like

Looks nice man, my other half is a native of India and she makes the most amazing chicken curry, but doesn’t eat lamb or beef so won’t make anything involving them - yet she also gets a bit touchy if I attempt to make a curry, so I’m walking a tight rope with this one, but I think I shall have it sneakily alone one evening as I love lamb. P.s we have the same kettle 😂

I set out to make this and measured out the ingredients for the sauce. Two tablespoons of garam masala looked like quite a lot so it didn't all go in. You can always put a bit more in at the end but you can't take it out. Turned out ok but the lamb mince I got from Aldi was shite and not buying that again.
