Let's try using some basic maths to estimate how many will be created over the course of two years. The Aventador, which is meant to replace the Murcielago, was put together in Sant'Agata, Bologna, between February 2011 and September 2022. That's somewhat more than 11.5 years, with 11,465 completed throughout that time. To put a nice round number on it, that works out to about 1,000 flagships annually.
More than 2,000 orders is remarkable when you consider that the Revuelto's starting price in the US market is close to $600,000. However, Lamborghini needs to make sure that it has every component needed to continue pursuing this very ambitious objective. Big kahuna Winkelmann is well aware that the Revuelto coupe will sell well during its first several years of production, but that the spider and an as-yet-unspecified performance variant will get more attention afterwards.
Remember that the Revuelto is far more sophisticated than its predecessor in terms of the pieces needed for it. The supply chain must function flawlessly, from the high-voltage battery to the three electric motors and the chips required for every system in the automobile.
In addition to the supply chain, Lamborghini has implemented a production strategy known as Manifattura 4.0. Expanded by 172,000 square metres (1,851,393 square feet), the Sant'Agata Bolognese complex now boasts a lot of technological upgrades, including the pompously called production system.
Lamborghini goes on to wax poetic about cobots, or cooperative robots made for monotonous tasks like assembling windscreens. The upholstery, assembly, and powertrain lines employ said cobots. It is also necessary to discuss automated guided vehicles, which are designed to deliver supplies and parts to the Revuelto's production lines.
Even the carbon-fiber monofuselage chassis incorporates automated procedures along with human intervention. The press statement that is linked below, which was published today by the House of Sant'Agata Bolognese, also gives a sneak peek at what's coming up at the conclusion of the decade. Finally confirming its first-ever electric vehicle in production, Lamborghini unveiled the 2+2 grand tourer, which is essentially the Espada's successor apparent.
The 2028 launch of the zero-emission model is scheduled. Before then, by 2024, the current Lamborghini lineup will be hybridised. The phrase "by 2024" is emphasised, which suggests that the much-anticipated Huracan replacement might be unveiled by the end of 2023. However, the Huracan's remaining supply of parts is completely sold out through 2024. How far into 2024 is unknown. On the other hand, the replacement's name is not yet known, and series production is scheduled to begin in late 2024.
Unlike the Revuelto, which has a 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 engine, the Baby Lambo is going to have a twin-turbo V8. The force-fed supercar, which has already been seen generating mild V8 noises, takes many design cues from its bigger sibling, the Revuelto.
