When Srila Prabhupada writes in "Nectar of Instruction" that a devotee should leave the company of a non-devotee, it means a devotee should not take association of a non-devotee. This does not mean a devotee should not give his or her association to a non-devotee. There is a difference in taking association and giving association. So we leave non-devotees's company if and when it is detrimental to our spiritual growth. But we do go out to them, reach out to them, to help them make progress in Krishna Consciousness. Association does not means to be with someone physically for example if a person is chatting with his friend his parents would ask him to eat food but he ignored, so at that time he is physically with his family but mentally with his friends so he is associating his friends although he is with his family.. So here Srila Prabhupada said that one should not to associate with non- devotees this means that a Vaishnava not to do the same thing that non - devotees do and not to agree with their point of view , THIS IS ASSOCIATION..... While a Vaishnava give his / her association to non - devotees not to take their association... Hare Krishna mataji 🙏 I hope that you may understand what I want to say....
