You're the man. This seems like the cheapest option to redo my basement bedroom that has some mold/moisture damage.

Finally after 1000 videos a video that actually SHOWS how to lay down !! Idk why but my issue is how to lay it out. Maybe it’s just me

Just FYI, the latest DMX 1 Step instructions specify a minimum flooring thickness of 5mm.

This is just a floating floor, correct? There's no way the floor is affixed to what's underneath? Have you had any issues with the laminate shifting or separating from adjacent boards?

We moved a couple of years ago but no issues before we left the house. I'd use it again if I was doing another floor

Hi, did you use this subfloor for your basement? Just want to get your feedback since I am planning to use it for my basement in Winnipeg, where the temperature can get very cold during winter.
@Handyverse4 ай бұрын
I did but this style of subfloor doesn't have a lot of insulation. If it's an area you're going to be using a lot, you probably will want to go for something thicker with a higher R-value

I'm using the same brand of laminate and dmx1step, but my laminate had pre-attached 2mm thick underlayment. I'm not sure if I should scrap that 2mm underlayment off

But whats the purpose for underlayment?
@ScientistMamaT3 жыл бұрын
You don't want direct contact between your flooring and the cement. Cement is moisture retaining so it can cause damage and potentially mold on your flooring (if your flooring isn't moisture resistant. The sub floor prevent that contact as well as acting as a vapor barrier which also prevents moisture accumulation.

I have done everything DMX told me to do, and still have terrible humidity problems under this floor. It should be considered insulation ONLY. If you even suspect you might maybe possibly have the tiniest bit of water getting in, this is not for you. I had a professional basement water proofing company come look, and he told me he cannot think of a single instance someone should use this product. Tile in a basement is the only way to go.

That's my thought too, laundry rooms could get washer leaks etc.
