We have become so used to hearing about the achievements of ‘16-year-old’ Lamine Yamal that it might come as a surprise to some when commentators don’t mention that in tomorrow’s European Championship final between Spain and England.
That is because Yamal, born on July 13, 2007, turns 17 today (Saturday). The winger has already achieved more than many players do in their entire careers - he is an undisputed star for Barcelona and Spain, could win his first international title at Berlin’s Olympiastadion and became the youngest scorer in Euros history with a spectacular semi-final goal against France at 16 years and 362 days old.
