I love the Gulf liveries! I actually didn't realize how many times Hot Wheels has used it. This is actually quite surprising! Still an awesome and legendary livery though so I guess it makes some sense! Nice video! 😊👍

I love the Gulf livery and bring it on. It's great to see a traditional livery like come back again from the 60's/70's era. The Gulf comeback maybe due to Mclaren F1 using it again. F1 fans went nuts last year when Mclaren used the traditional livery at the Monaco Grand Prix. Their merchandise store sold out of the Gulf gear in quick time. I'm new to collecting Hot Wheels and I'm hunting the older models down in my country (New Zealand) to add to my collection. I love the traditional light blue livery, not so keen on the Spectre blue. I would love to add the 917,993 and 037 to my collection. I would also love to see more models done in other traditional liveries such as Castrol, Agip. Shell etc colours.

I like them as it's kind of a sub collection on top of other ways to collect the cars as well

I have the GT40, the McLaren F1, the 917 from the diorama set, and 917LH. I do love the Gulf colors, but I'm trying to stick just with the cars that actually did have Gulf livery in real life.

More Gulf ! Should also spread the love for Advan, Union 76, etc.

I myself love the Gulf livery, mainly because I live in Pittsburgh Pa. and Gulf oil was founded in Pittsburgh and its headquarters were in Pittsburgh over 75 years until Chevron bought them out in the late 80’s. Gulf was one of the famous companies attached to Pittsburgh like Heinz, Alcoa, and USS steel

It seems that when something reaches critical mass (like the sheer quantity of Gulf cars evidenced in this video alone), there is always a sub-sect of folks that get itchy about a particular item or idea or (in this case) deco becoming 'old hat'. Personally, I agree with most of the comments that I've seen so far, here. Gulf is awesome. It fits just about any car, and it's not a bad color combination in and of itself. I think that people are getting tired of Gulf because of 2 reasons: 1. There are many diecast companies that use the Gulf livery to sell their products and the market may be saturated (although I would think that having a larger collection of Gulf cars would be better in any case) 2. The price of RLC or Convention cars with Gulf livery from Hot Wheels spikes up really quickly and people are afraid of losing it in the sale. Even Supers, I think it's the same, the price of any Gulf livery Super spikes up really quickly due to demand.

I'm not sick of the Gulf livery...yet, although i'm not as excited as i used to be about it. The key for me is that Mattel should bring out the occasional Gulf casting / set and just not over-do it. And i agree, Spectraflame isn't necessary for a Gulf-themed car, it just makes it look more lush. The new addition, the Datsun 510 looks pretty good. They made 35K units and it's already sold out...that says alot about how many people (or scalpers) collect Hot Wheels out there. Thanks for this vid.

I think to just apply the Gulf livery to any casting is a mistake. I like the livery, but it only really fits on certain cars IMHO. The spectraflame gulf is much more my fav.

IMHO, It all comes down to collect what you like. If you like Gulf and thousands of others like Gulf they will sell. If the Gulf livery continues to sell diecast manufacturers will find a way to produce the cars. I pick up cars with the Gulf Livery if they are affordable and available. In general, I do not collect diecast vehicles the sole purpose of turning a profit or resale. But if more than one is available, affordable and has potential for resale. I pick up more than one. Hot Wheels does a good job of representing other classic and contemporary car culture and performance brands. I say keep making cars and trucks with the Gulf livery! Thanks for making these videos!

8:50 the 917K, GT40, VW Bus and Drag Beetle were first, more or less from 2013/2014. 67 Camaro and Rocket Oil from 2015.

also, I preferred the plastic pieces they used to keep things closed before to the rubber bands. I can't replace the rubber band on the m3 without taking it off the stand and for some reason I just dont want to do that.

I love these subsets that Mattel puts out in both brands. Looking at more then just Diecast you will see that no matter what something is someone will complain and the first year they don't put one out they will complain that it isn't there

For the RLC price, I'd want the blue portion to be metallic blue (hydrochrome) instead of the gloss light blue that they've used on the Raptor and the 510.

Love classic racing colours and branding. Gulf hits this perfectly. Would love to see more classic racing liveries. Although a lot of them might be cigarettes and not for Mattel.

I just love Gulf, I think I have 2 of these. I don’t get tired of it. The blue and orange with real racing numbers is still sick. I like always how you love to keep your cars loose without keeping them in the boxes! Great work!

Gulf is cool but it needs to make sense and be on car or car brands that it actually was used on and it needs to be slightly less used cause they have been really milking it over the past few years

10:14 to clarify the issue was with the orange paint. Both the ones I received had the issue.

I like the historical ones more than just slapping the livery on everything...BUT if it's well done I enjoy them. I have the Lancia rally transport set, the Datsun 510 shown here, the car culture McLaren F1 GTR, and the car culture Silverado..

I would be happy if every non-fantasy car had Gulf livery. 200+ cars a year would be fine with me, lol. That is probably more than a lot of people would like. But I haven’t heard anyone say they are getting tired of Gulf. But, I did see a lot more of the ‘67 Ford GT40 Mk. IV on the pegs this year, which is unusual. So who knows, I think it’s purely personal preference.

Been collecting for less than a year, like the color combination personally, but the baby blue could be updated to a darker color lime shown in your video for a while with the occasional white recolor and make the TH'S in the original baby blue to bring the excitement back. The new people's zeal will help the veteran's get there zeal back too then?!

I can't speak for anyone else, but I like the Gulf livery, so I'm still in.

I love Gulf because it is generally applied to the types of vehicles I like to collect -- anything that causes Hot Wheels to release more real-life production cars of the past is something I am fully behind. I don't think we need any more Deora 3's or "fast-food' cars that take up space on the pegs as they sit there months after month in place of any Gulf cars.

I am collecting over two years, and I am not sick of GULF, I do not care at all. I have 68 Novas, Nissan Laurel and GT-40 in collection and 510 Gulf on the way. I bought 510 only to have some heavy weight to exchange for RLC Datsun 240z in Red Limited Edition of 6500.

Simple- do Gulf livery castings stay on the pegs or are they difficult to find?

Also to me the most infamous are the Ford Gt 40 and the Porsche 917 wearing Gulf colors

I don’t think gulf livery will ever die. It’s too good of a complimentary color scheme for it to die. Specially with the spectraflame. I am considering the fact that the muted blue just isn’t as popular, but when it’s spectra flamed, it’s a instant seller. If you look at the ID vw in gulf it’s grossing more than most ID cars.
