@Joshua M. It sounds like you need more time. I was having a horrible horrible stretch of time over the spring and summer. It took about a week for me to see a difference but I’m sensitive to medication which may be why it happened so fast. Keep going like your doctor is recommending. I really hope this works for you. Also therapy is really important too I hope you have access to one. Keep going, trust the process.

Ive also Been on this medication for over a year, so it was not sudden nor was it immediately after taking it. This was gradual. At the end of the day, I never wanted to blame that medication & because I felt I needed it, I kept taking it. I am not against medications by any means, but in my heart, I knew this one was not for me. So today marks my official journey of getting off of it to see how I feel. I hope you’re better too!

My neurons were everywhere. People that in same situation will know what I’m talking about.I would go out to run an errand if I went to more than one place I was over flustered overwhelmed,come home felt my eyes balls and brain unstable severe headache. I would take a clonazepam with very little effect. Omg I had this meds hidden I took one I felt sooo relieved and ready for my grandkids. Like my psychiatrist said my neurons felt back they should be.

So how are you now? Makes no sense and taking one was a placebo effect because you thought it was helping and automatically reacted. it at least takes a month to even start dooing any thing as it explains. its not any thing related to opioid or cannabis meth or any thing alike. you took 1 25mg and you felt i don't believe and your the first out of the uncountable.

Would you say lamotrigine is in some ways similar to gabapentin or pregabalin
@egpat
@egpat 3 жыл бұрын
Not completely similar as gabapentin and pregabalin mainly target Ca2+ channels whereas lamotrigine shows multiple actions.
@allanajanae7511

No. Gaba is like a upper.. you feel it almost instantly, it gives you this relaxed but energized feeling, like alcohol which my psychiatrist compares it to. Then lamo slowly works throughout the weeks. You won’t really notice a change in behavior until the 1-2 month mark.

Nah fam, if you don't take it in some cases you can have a seizure if you don't take it for a day. Also, 25 mg won't really do anything. I'm on 100 mg for BPD, and it only started working then.

I have Bipolar Disorder, I was diagnosed at the end of last year, I started taking Lamotrigine, I started at a dose of 25mg and this week I reached the dose of 200mg, which was what the doctor asked My depression improved, but from 100mg I started to go into hypomania. I have a lot of nocturnal activation and anxiety, difficulty sleeping because of this activation, as if my brain were plugged into an outlet. I am using Quetiapine because Zolpidem is no longer working for me. Is this type of situation common with Lamotrigine? I've been like this for 3 weeks, I have an appointment next week

Damn. These doctors talk about these side effects liKe its no big deal, like they were talking about the weather. They don't knew why the medication works or how it works in the brain? Jeesh, that seems so irresponsible. Shouldn't there be a better understanding of how it works on the brain before it is approved? That skin rash (and subsequent risk of death) scares the crap out of me. Why on earth is this medication approved? And God forbid you should have reservations about taking the meds. The doctors drop you like a hot potato. Non-compliant patient.

I'm disgusted by the over prescribing of meds in the States. Only 10% of people on antidepressants even feel a difference and GPs hand out these psychiatric meds like candy. Free samples from whatever big Pharma is pushing today. Maybe we all just need fewer meds and more living life. Not on the Internet, real life, touching human beings. Walking outside.
