I wish I would have seen this before purchasing mine. I bought a medium when I really should have gotten the fine. I've since come to like it (especially with high shading inks and writing in a larger Hobonichi A5 Cousins), but now I'm going to "need" to purchase a fine whereas I think I would have been happy just to have only the fine nib to begin with. Ah well, lesson learned, and now I know where to come research before my next purchase.

Thank you so much for this. I’ve been going back and forth between the EF and F and from what I’ve read online this is a very common dilemma. Thank you for bringing clarity to the discussion. I’ll be sure to pass this video along to others who are in the same boat.

@@phi1688 I went with the F, and here’s my take: If you are going to use good paper like the Rhodia dotpad, it’ll probably be ok for you. It’s definitely more like a medium, around 0.6mm line from what I’m seeing. On cheaper paper, the line width isn’t to my liking. It’s hard to know if the EF would be any better for me since I haven’t written with one, plus a lot of people say the line width is barely different. I’ve heard that the grind on the EF is more architect-like. In theory the sweet spot should be a little more forgiving with the F. Overall I’m happy with the one I have. Since I take a bunch of notes for work, I made sure to hop on JetPens and order several Rhodia Dotpads so I never have to worry about writing on terrible paper 😅 For people that like .38 - .5mm in gel pens, I’d recommend EF. For people that like .5 - .7mm I’d recommend the F.

@@_TheTaoJones_ ended up with an EF a few days ago, and yea it is a pretty thick line - it’s not super wet but the tipping itself is just wide. It doesn’t have the architect thing going on at all, but it doesn’t have sweet spot issues either. It’s super smooth. I was initially upset but the body is just so amazingly comfortable / well designed that I’ll probably just send it to a nibmeister one of these days. As far as paper goes, I get loose leaf fp friendly paper for a decent price and just have that in a folder + binder system

This was amazing, thank you! The Lamy 2000 might be my 2024 goal pen and this video was so helpful! I could almost feel you (myself) writing with it! I debated between the fine and medium, but from this I can see that the fine would be more appropriate for my needs. Question: when they talk about the "sweet spot" is that more apparent in a fine, medium or broad nib? Or does each size have its own sweet spot? Thank you!

I'm definitely wavering between the fine and the medium. I love showing off shading inks, and i love when a nib is super smooth, which would lead me to medium, but I'm also a lefty and have a tendency to smudge a little so I feel like i need a faster dry time

Very informative video, I've always knew this nibs were too broad but bought an M anyway because it was heavily discounted, almost half the price 😬, now once I get the chance it'll go to the nibmeister, its stuby shape will make for an excellent EF oblique. Watching you hold the pen like that gives me pain, isn't it an uncomfortable position? 😮

안녕하세요 라미 2000 스텐 F 닙 사용중에있는데 버터기는 한데 막 엄청 버터는 또 아니고 필각을 타기는하더라구요 ㅜㅜ 뚜껑을 닫을때도 부드럽게 스무스하게 닫힌다고 하시는데 뭔가 탁?딱? 하면서 닫히고 빡 하면서 닫히는거같은데 불량인걸까요?

안녕하세요~ 라미2000 F닙 사용중이시군요! 각도에 따라 느낌이 좀 다를수 있는데 그래도 사각거리지 않고 부드러운 닙이에요! 뚜껑은 스냅캡이라 딱 하고 닫히는 느낌이 있어요~ 영상에서 말한건 뚜껑닫을때 느낌이 좋다는걸 스무스하다고 표현한것같아요! ^^

@@Yoseka 저는 그냥 딱 하고 그래서 ㅎㅎ 이전에 마크롤론은 좀 부드럽고 그런느낌이었는데 스텐이라 좀 다른가 했긴했는데 뽑기운인것 같네요 ㅎㅎ

Yes indeed this is the best nib comparison, but I think some of the conclusions as to line width may be wishful thinking. I really don't see that XF as actually being .2mm. Mine certainly isn't!

Hello, your video is very informative. I watched many videos about Lamy 2000, read many comments, and finally bought it from Amazon. But unfortunately I was disappointed. The general appearance of the pen appeals to me, there is no problem here. However, I bought an F nib and it was not as comfortable as I wanted. First of all, it had a hard writing that felt like steel rather than a gold nib, and the ink was very pale and dry, and there was almost no fluidity. I washed the palate of the pen a few times with warm water and mild pure soap, but the result did not change. .Instead of returning it, I sent it to the service because I trust the Lamy company. Let's see what the result will be???

@@reveme My pen has arrived now. I put black Lamy ink in it and I am writing. There is a great difference after the sad performance it showed on the first day I bought it. Now it has started to write exactly as I wanted and give pleasure. I think these pens have intelligence :) It seems like they are choosing ink, even if a little bit. The ink will either be Lamy or a comparable ink.
