I am a Kenyan who went to flight school in South Africa. The first time I went to South Africa I was mugged at gun point in Jozi CBD but I love South Africa . I am obsessed with Springboks rugby team, curry cup, super rugby, I even support South Africa sevens when playing against my own country.I have this anthem memorized. My perfect vacation is singing this anthem at a Springbok game. I wish the few xenophobic SouthAfricans knew how good of a country you have and that us fellow Africans have nothing but love for ya’ll.

South africans who dont know their history are the biggest stumbling blocks for progress. I have two uncles who had to flee the country during apartheid because they were seen as enemies of the state because of their resistance to apartheid. One was received by Zambia and the other by Kenya. They ended up being welcomed and made families in both countries. Our people dont know Africans were a refuge when the apartheid government was hanging freedom fighters in Pretoria. I love my Zambian and Kenyan family and it's a shame you were treated harshly on what is all our motherland. I dream of a day when we can all embrace each other, fellow africans including white africa. We are all on this earth together. It's sad that can be divided by borders and skin color so easily.

@@danielsummerton2259 But is the country now better? I understand that no civil rights and racism are dumb and not understandable things, but economically and under safety aspects the life for the average black man isn't better today! A peaceful transition, to a ruling Boer government, but without racism would have been far better. Look at Johannesburg today, look at Johannesburg 40 years ago....

Its magic. I get the same feeling I hear it everytime. We were just there. We went to Robben Island and saw Mandellas cell. It was totally humiliating. Empty but for a rug and little else and hot. That he could transcend under these circumstances and not show utter hatred to his captors shows how the spirit can rise above all else. My greatest respect to him. I just did not realize what he went through.

Wow-gave me goosebumps. Those are people who have genuine pride in their country. Not like in the United States. I stopped watching professional sports over a year ago because of the kneeling during the National Anthem. I am a Vietnam vet (Navy). My father was a Korean War vet (Marines). My grandfather was a WWI vet (Army) and my great-grandfather was a Spanish-American War vet (Army). I am more than a little sensitive over this. However, if I saw these U.S. athletes singing our National Anthem with the same pride exhibited by the South African athletes and the people in the stands, I would gladly start watching professional sports again. Sadly, I don’t believe this will happen. By the way, I do miss watching these sports. Breaks my heart.
