But,IMO, this is a rare exception where the remake improved over the original in every way. I still get the feeling of yearning and sadness, but I this beat fits the season better. This is a summer song, and this theme goes better with summertime.

Kyle Roberts The original was supposed to be sad so it seems to be more of personal taste whether it's supposed to be upbeat or not. I wouldn't say it's better because it shifts the emotion of the song; it's just more suitable for upbeat situations, like at a club, as opposed to the original which is more suitable for something like, say, crying in the corner.

Both this version and the original are perfect in their own ways - "Summertime Sadness" on its own is a truly wonderful, heartbreaking ballad and this is a really positive remix and it's amazing how music can show two completely alternative sides to a song :D
