Land clearing around the former Golden Bear Theatre area! The queue bridge for Jet Steam is being demolished! And more work on the solar panels in the parking lot.

They would be shooting themselves in the foot if they remove this! We need more water rides not less. Build another log ride please! It’s fine if they fix this up and add more water flow to it.

I think they finally gut Jet Stream... Bring back a bigger better Log Jammer where the Bear theater used to be... and add a new mountainous coaster themed to something racing to replace Jetstream. Then build a hyper racing coaster that sneaks behind Riddler's and eventually re-purpose the Woody into a race themed coaster to bring that entire back area into one solid theme of "street vibes" so to speak. They can even add ANOTHER attraction where De Ja VU used to be. ???

@@stephenn77 they cant run the water higher because it sploshes out over the paths. The ride needs major refurbishment, on the scale of the log flume at Over Texas

Another great update! Leo Hyde was a manager of construction and facilities at Magic Mountain during the time when Colossus was built and still was in 1989, though not sure when he left.

Glad to see so many coasters open at Magic Mountain! I know this same time last year, many of their headliners were closed due to staffing issues. Hopefully this is a sign of things improving.

Yeah, things are improving for sure. Very few closed rides recently. Hopefully, everything is open in the summer.

The thing this park needs is more shade and landscaping. They keep spending money on new rides instead of improving maintenance on the rides and the look of the park. The summer time is brutal in this park due to the lack of shade

Eagle's Flight, Dragon, Metro -- gone but not forgotten. It's amazing how much transportation used to be in the park (not to mention the Grand Centennial Railroad that became transportation after they added the Spillikin Corners stop).

Thanks. Yeah, whenever I look at pictures of Log Jammer, I get really sad. That area so so incredibly lush and beautiful. And a decade later, the trees they planted hardly filled in. Also so much concrete. Hopefully this changes with the Cedar Fair merger.

Aww man RIP the Jet Stream bridge. The whole ride might be gone soon... It's so old. I first rode it in maybe 1994. Seeing this made me flashback holding my high school crushes hand on bridge as we waited in line for our boat 😭😭😭😭

I believe Jet Stream will be around for a while. They just upgraded the water lines. And did a bunch of other work in addition to the new bridge.

That’s really interesting that they’re torching those handrail posts flush with the concrete stairs. That would be a complete waste of effort if they weren’t going to repurpose those stairs. Thanks for another great update Chris!

Thanks. Yeah, it's quite odd what's going on with the concrete for Golden Bear. I'm so very curious how they plan on repurposing it. If that's whats really happening. What if they are just building a new theater? Ha!

@@AmericasCoasterNetwork My guess is so the hill doesn't slide down, i.e mud slide , now it's a retaining wall.. the dirt under it is extremely dry dry dirt doesn't take in water very well it's hydrophobic... I watch a lot of videos on mud slides because they're interesting...

Theyre just replacing the wood on the bridge for Jet Stream. We saw them putting new wooden beams back up on Monday.

SoCa, partly because of its weather & Hollywood, was kind of the original epicenter of theme or amusement parks. But with parks like the upcoming Epic Universe in Orlando & the older Disney parks in Tokyo, SFMM in particular & even the parks in Anaheim are starting to lag. A run-down Samurai Summit might have been okay for a few months. But for years? Get cracking, SF/Cedar.

I LOVE magic Mountain!!!!! Not thrilled with Six Flag corporation but the first time i went I was 7 years old and the Revolution was being tested and we all were on the observation deck which is on the left side of the cyber cafe but like a lot of things there the general public is not allowed on it,SMH. I remember being underneath it and thinking "How do the people not fall out" lol . They really should install gondolas again as the park has no more people movers and reopen the Steak House because it has epic views of the main entrance and Full throttle for that matter. The park is twice the size of Disney and needs some type of people mover. And do not get me started on the dry rot that you pointed out or the fact that the Skytower has been closed for at least ten years. Imagine if Disney took out the Monorail? There would be such an uproar!!! Any ways thanks for the video update and you should do one on the Wizards castle that still stands to the right of the giant carrots in the old Bugs bunny world, The Wizard and the Trolls used to do a show there.........

Yeah, I feel ya. Thankfully the park is making small improvements here and there. The Sky Tower is rumored to reopen. But I see shortcuts being taken. Like, they repainted the gift shop next to the entrance turnstiles. But didn't fix the dry rot. Just painted over it.

Great update today, pretty interesting on what they're currently doing with the golden bear theater at the moment. Also good thing that the park is rebuilding jet streams bridge, I remember the last time I rode it, I felt one part of the floor sinking when you step on it, but I'm glad that jet stream is getting the love it needs, still curious about what's to come in the future, looks like we'll just have to wait and see

@@AmericasCoasterNetwork I know everyone keeps talking a coaster. But interesting they kept the stairs, ramps, and the entire theater where the seats were. IN addition, many of the seats are being stored in the overflow lot. I honestly just think the theater is being rebuilt.

I am glad you remember the Four Winds Steakhouse. It was a cool place to eat and had awesome views ! It’s sad that it closed and even know the old building is weird to see abandoned. It’s a shame because the whole area on Samarai Summit could be quite beautiful if it weren’t for all the dereliction up there. I mean I know they use the structures for Fright Fest but it just looks depressing.

Yeah, when I was a little kid, we'd visit as a family and Four Winds was the go-to spot for lunch. My memory was always sitting to the right of the entrance. Never did see the outside patio. But, when recently looking up from Full Throttle, I was looking at that outdoor patio and was thinking about how awesome it would be to eat there with Full Throttle zooming by.

Hopefully with Cedar Fair's Influence, these improvements will be just the start of a whole new face lift to this neglected park. I can see them prioritizing the things that need attention the most and then working their way through to things like the laughing dragon and the old dragon station. I hope they keep a lot of the old history restore and repurpose the old structures. It would also be great if they can build a new a transportation ride and a new water ride. It's encouraging after seeing what Cedar Fair did with Knott's Berry Farm.

Well said! Yeah, I hope they bring back more of the charm. Now, to be fair, with Knott's, Cedar Fair really screwed up things in the early years of ownership. But things turned the corner around 10 years ago.

What kind of coaster will go on that ridge! Very interesting… 🤔 I really hope they fill up all those dead zones of the park (aka Sumarai Summit). This park has so much potential to be really great!! The coasters and land is there, but more flat rides, food options etc. There should be no dead spots! They should also hire more people cleaning, vendors, etc. They should also have more water flowing in Jet Stream. It’s been too low and bumpy!

Just to you all know Jet Stream a year younger than Magic Mountain it was made in 1972. I’m bummed being demoed it’s been there so long.

It isn't going anywhere. The bridge was just falling apart and needed to get fixed. They also did a bunch of work with water lines. The park really looks to be taking great care of it.

With as many coasters as they have, and operating year-round, there are always bound to be a coaster or two closed. Especially in the winter. But, when I was there a couple weeks ago, I got on everything except Ninja and Superman (which were closed). Now they are back open and X2 is getting work. Hopefully by the summer, everything is going. I believe the park is getting better about that.

Thank you. I use a DJI Osmo Pocket (first gen). There's a Pocket 3 that recently came out. I'll eventually upgrade. My current is coming up on four years of use.

"Mr. Hyde was born in San Francisco in 1929, and, along with his twin brother, Robert, graduated from St. Ignatius in 1947. He entered the Society of Jesus after graduation and was ordained a priest in 1960. He left the priesthood in 1971 and went to work as a construction supervisor for Magic Mountain amusement park in Southern California. He retired in 1992 as manager of planning, construction and facilities for the park."

Last fall there was an event at the theater is was some type of religious day and they had a full crowd with pastors as presenters. lots of people in robes n stuff.

When did they start having Superman going backwards and fowards at same time? When did refurbish/restoration on ride it was only going up tower backward and not going up tower forward?

Back in Aug 2021 they turned the right side back around to face forward. But, prior to this last closure, it was only running the backwards side. Since reopening a couple weeks ago, it's been running backwards only. I'm guessing by Scream Break, we'll see both sides going again.

Jet Stream is staying. Just wish they didn't remove Log Jammer. Along with the other water rides. The park used to have 5. Now down to 2.

Ya I tried to check the property lines. Couldn't find anything detailed enough. The probably don't anything on the sloped part there. I know the original Goliath plans were to go all the way around the park, and thus behind ridlers', but just a small strip There's a theatrical Giga someone made that would go over superman and past justice league turn around by Ridlers' I'm guessing these are soil survivors, that section of the hill doesn't have cross cuts barriers in it like the rest of the hill.@@seanlewis1148

I am really curious as to what is being built. Given what is being cleared and that whatever the ride is is meant to compete with Hollywood Drift, I could see them doing an element that goes under Superman and then loops back over like Hollywood Drift is going to do with the escalators leading to the lower lot. A zero G roll over Supes would be fun. You mentioned a Tilt in one of the other comments, but I don't know that that is going to be the model they go with. I think enthusiasts are more excited about that model than the general public is. Every GP person I have shown the Tilt concept to has said no way. As to them snagging the Tilt that was supposed to go to Energylandia as some folks have postulated, they would have to entirely rework and rebuild the supports because Energylandia is a flat plain and not the mountain, so it would still be very much building an entirely new coaster and not be as cost effective as people think. I am hoping for a TRex for obvious reasons, but it would also make sense for the chain if they did a package deal with RMC for that and say a Raptor for SFGA for the 50th anniversary and maybe third coaster in the future. All we can do is wait and see.

I keep hearing that whatever we are getting, it's unique. Which is why the Tilt makes the most sense. But the park also teased a giga in a post last year. Maybe a giga Tilt? Ha.

@@AmericasCoasterNetwork A giga Tilt..folks like us would definitely ride that. GP, maybe not so much but it would certainly be a spectacle. I don't know that Tilt is being counted as unique now since Circuit Breaker is being built at Codaland and from what I have heard, Energylandia is still going to get one but it was just pushed back.TRex and a full-sized S&S Axis seem to be the closest to fitting the unique bill. Admittedly, an Axis terrain coaster would be incredible. That wouldn't make me mad at all.
