Allan was an amazing man. He still is. He was so active in our community. Being really close to him, (I’m his granddaughter) I can admit that he would never stop until he finished what he started. I’m positive that Mr Power was just as good and I wish I had the opportunity to know him as well. Thank you for posting this- it gives amazing information and tells the story of my grandfather and mr power in one of the best ways I think possible. It tells what they were very passionate about. :)

Was Port au Port affected by the tsunami that ravaged the Burrin Peninsula in November 1929? When I was stationed at Harmon AFB , 1955-56 , a resident of Port au Port mentioned experiencing a "flood" . She was of the Abbot family that ran an equipment supply business for fishermen. Today, I wonder if that flood was actually the tsunami of 1929. Like my eldest sister she was probably born in the early 1920s and oid enough to recall the 1929 flood/tsunami. Would like to know if she was remembering the 1929 event , or some other tsunami originating in the Gulf of St. Lawrence say, or maybe only an unusual high tide.
