I mean the middle slot literally locks onto a nearby gravitational body and slowly approaches...

@@DragonaxFilms I admittedly didn't learn it through the game, but I found myself wondering what the third icon does. Right pulls you back to launch station, left shoots you out, but what does the middle do? Looked it up awhile back, and you can see it here with the three lines, it locks you to the nearest gravitional body (if there is one) and then falls (gently, somehow)

@@LethalLuggage Small correction : it's the middle position that gets you back to the launching cannon, and the right one that makes you land! Apart from that, thank you for the enlightment lol the landing position is super hard to figure out

My girlfriend almost did this by complete accident super early in the game but she panicked and stepped back and the translator tool auto-equipped as she was breaching the fog.

@@ap.0llo yeah i checked afterwards, thats why it was in past tense. I had not thought about it before cause atleast the hearthians dont seem to have any concept of gender.

Nice! This is how I first landed on the QM, took me so many tries. I initially tried to do it with the ship, but I phased through it even with a picture so I thought "Welp, guess I gotta Nomai it." Major props!

@@cancelery6224 I realized much later on that this was the case, but I guess I did not get a good enough picture the first time. So, being the non-scientist I am, I just forwent any further testing.

Meanwhile my first thought finding the gravity cannon ship was to launch myself Giant's Deep... And then found myself underneath the string currents 😅

So what exactly does the right control do? Initiate a landing on the nearest astral body? Always just assumed it was to return to the vessel since it didn’t function for me (but I never tried it while near a planet)

When you are close to a gravitational body it will lock you onto it so you can land on it. You gotta be pretty close to a planet to activate it.
