I believe it is just as hard to demolish this concrete bridge as the Gallows Rd bridge over 66.

Thanks, John. Very interesting. Like another recent video, you can really see how much those concrete I-beams flex as they got chipped away more and more. Also, at the end, that "T" pier moved quite a bit when he drops the hammer on it. I wondered why they broke up the beams at either end of the bridge in the air, but took the trouble to lift the others down. Maybe it was too difficult to the ones on the end loose from the structure at the ends?

I was surprised at the variety of equipment/techniques that they used. Most of the demo was done with jackhammers on excavators, but they also used a remote-controlled jackhammer on the bridge deck at the beginning, and of course the crane to remove four beams to then be jack-hammered on the ground. All the beams were held on with identical bearings, so they should have been equally easy/difficult to lift with the crane. (And they used the crane for only 1 of the 5 segments of the bridge.) A bit of speculation: I wonder if Berg was either experimenting with different bridge demolition techniques, or trying to give their people experience with different bridge demolition techniques. It wasn't cheap to bring a large crane in for a task that the excavators were handling quite well.

Hard to believe the bridge is useless for other purposes, not that old.

What year this bridge build Was it build at time landmark mall was built

The bridge, and the parking garage it leads to, were added as part of the major 1990 renovation that enclosed the mall.

If you are going to demolish the school, it would be nice to see the boiler rooms and the ventilation machine rooms when they are demolished

Part 8 will be Lord and Taylor, which is still being demolished. Today (Wednesday) they were playing with the rubble, but perhaps tomorrow they will make some progress on the core of the building.

@@JohnZWetmore Jesus, that will be the first time in 13 years the general public can see the inside of that building. Looking forward to that video
