I upgraded from slippers to a small carpet, about 100x200cm under my pedals and chair. Stops my chair from rolling AND provides warm feet when I take them off the pedals. 🙂

Since I upgraded on loadcell brake, i must put my slippers under the chairwheels, but i think it works. Lando, great setup and respect for your skills!

i know that Asetek Sim sports had Kevin Magnussen testing alot of stuff and their settings from him are on their website - im pretty sure

well mate. the rig he's showing here costs as near as makes no difference. 25 thousand as per the website of the manufacturer. So regardless if he posted all his settings in the most minute detail. You are not replicating it at home without shelling out 25,000 quid. and that's just the reality. Its not even the most expensive version. Tho interestingly, They offer a formula racing simulator and a GT racing simulator which is the one featured here.

Agreed, but I’m fortunate to have a rig that’s still above average to most and closer to his. And while his settings wouldn’t translate 1:1 to other people’s setups unless they had exactly the same equipment, it would help non professionals at least get in the ballpark to what the pros do. Most sim racers have no idea what a real GT3 or F1 car feels like to drive so seeing the settings a driver uses on their home sim would at least give you an idea of where things should be set at to help make things more true to life.

Shame Mclaren can't get their shit together. Frustrating to see one of the most talented drivers on the grid not reaching his full potential. I hope either Mclaren ups their game or Lando get's a better seat somewhere else.

@@leemartin3429 that was unfortunate because of the weather. He had the lead the whole race until the rain hit, you can't say he didn't do good until the rain. He is championship material but he should either leave McLaren for a better team or McLaren should improve their car a lot.

Might take a while. Usually beating your team mate is a good way to get a better team. Lando beat Daniel last year, was P7 overall, but it got him nowhere. He stayed with McLaren and is now one of the slowest on track. So someone on his side is doing something very, very wrong.

VR can be very straining for some people to the point where they can only do a couple hours max. I assume it generally allows them to spend much more time on sims fully concentrated. Shit I love VR compared to triples but when I crash I gotta take a nice long break😂

Also curious about motion, I figured his setup would be more complex considering his resources

Motion is avoided for home systems with professional drivers, its delayed vs what is happening with your inputs. Unless you spend upwards of £50,000 its simply not something you can train with at a high level.

VR is still flaky - every update of drivers for headset /GPU will change/break somehting.. not worth the hassle right now

Even with millions of pounds to spend on their full on simulators none of the F1 teams use VR. In it's current state VR has just too many fundamental issues to be of much use, it's just a gimmick and as with Lando here you are far better off using triple/wrap around screens or a single big screen with head tracking as a lot of flight simulator aficionados use..

There are a number of reasons why many choose to opt out of VR. VR is great, especially the new Varjo headsets. The quality is fantastic, and the quality of the product is excellent. But it currently needs help in areas such as eye strain, weight on your head, and being able to see your hands/wheel (the XR-3 has hand mapping but comes at a price many are not willing to pay) . We have tested 20+ headsets across the years, and the XR-3 tops them but still has issues such as headaches with eye strain, a lot of weight for the goggles etc. It's hard to beat gaming monitors when they can run at 240hz+ in 2023 when VR is well below this. The same goes for resolution and FOV. Don't mistake this paragraph for implying 'VR is bad' as we are not saying that. We are saying it does have limitations which you do not have to worry about with monitors. VR can be great if you want to have a different level of immersion, it's just not something we would advise for people using their sim every day, training and wanting to have flawless functionality at the touch of a button.
