Thanks Gary, appreciate that. 😊 I think metal work is on of my favorite things to do in the garage, something special about making things out of plane metal. I love the fact that I now can fix almost everything on the car my self. I have still much to learn but it part of the fun. I can't count the number of welding videos I saw before I did my first weld. 😊 Next thing is to fix the rear cross member, a bigger job and a more serious welding job. Hey and congrats with the “new” car 👍😊 I know, I got some tips about that later and have seen some videos where they do that and that’s a great tip for other going ahead with welding sheet metal. 👌 Sadly I sold the Defender, was getting so rusty that it was getting a bit more than my skill could handle. Sold it to a guy in the Land Rover club who has fixed it up nicely. 👍 Thank you for sharing and I’m very glad you liked the video. 😊 Welding is very fun and I will do it more this winter to make stuff for my Discovery 3 build. Thank you Daniel! :) This was on of my most rewarding fixes on the Defender. Something special about fixing it from just a sheet of metal. I have much to learn about fabrication and beding metal, but I can't wait to do some more welding. Was there a lot of things needed welding on the RRC? I have seen some videos of them and read forums, some are pretty bad. 😊

@@LandRoverDrive Yes, a lot of. The chassis was in a perfect condition but the body had a lot of rust. I welded both front foot floor and both fenders, after that I thought was finish, but the rear end of the body was also bad, trunk floor and the rear fenders, this was the point where I gave up and sold it. 🙄 But years later a want a RRC V8 what an awesome car, but rust free and in good condition you have to pay 20000 € at least. 😀

Thanks for the tips, I'm learning a lot as I'm doing this and advice and shared experiences is what I'm going on. I saw some magnet holders that I will try out next time. I have bought some extra metal clamps since this video was filmed so have some extra now. Yeah, would have like to have change them all out at that point. So rusted all around. I needed to get them fixed enough so I could get the car though MOT as we had a trip coming up. And I also wanted to learn how to weld and do metal work. Great way to start but still need to work on my welding skills. I wish I had access to all of the gear need to do a full restore as getting the work done by others a so expensive here in Norway. Good tip about the galvenised ones. I was told that it smart to get them waxed internaly as well before painting them. The welds still holds on the Defender so not the worst first job. 🙂 Cheers.

:) Utrulig tilfredstillende å sveise inn nytt metal. Jeg hadde ingen sveise erfaring fra før så at det ble så bra som det ble er morro. Var veldig tynt metall så var vanskelig å sveise, brente hull flere ganger, spesielt der det var rustet litt tynnere en orginalt. Jeg sier bare lykke til og blir spennede å se det på kanalen din. ;)

Thanks! 😊 I just watch a lot of welding videos and did some practice welding. You can see some of them in kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ftKbktyfp7u8qps.html. I used MIG welding with gas, I learned after all the videos that MIG was the best for car restoration. MIG is a lot cleaner than stick, and handles impurities better than TIG. 😊 Just get started welding, that's my biggest tip. It's fun an so rewarding. If you have any more questions just ask, I'm not a pro but know some stuff.
