Landscape's 'European Man', featuring Barbie Wilde. NOTE: All videos on the BWBARBIE CHANNEL were uploaded by the performer for promotional purposes under the "fair usage" provision.
Landscape had other hits such as 'Einstein a Go-Go' and 'My Name is Norman Bates'. Singer Richard James Burgess went on to produce Spandau Ballet, Adam Ant, Kim Wilde, Five Star and many others. Barbie Wilde was a member of mime-music-dance group Shock (with Tik and Tok). Barbie also appeared as the Female Cenobite in 'Hellbound: Hellraiser II' and in 'Death Wish III' as a vicious mugger. She also appeared on TV as a presenter for various UK music and movie review programs. As Technical Glamour, Barbie taught the world-famous glove puppet, Sooty, how to do the robot.

Starting at 1:12, you can hear a voice reading out programming data for the Roland MC-8 Sequencer, which was used on this song. He says: “Control voltage: 39, step time: 16, gate time: 9, available memory: 15 kilobytes, time base: 24, measure set: two zero seven.”

A good satire in the 80s' world, when information processing was moving its first steps in everyday life .... I guess this video was damn prophetical..... could we ever do , now , without machines ?

Fantastique ! Top 5 albums from that period anyone ? Landscape -- From the Tea-rooms of Mars . . . . Ultravox -- Vienna Data -- Opera Electronica lene lovich (no caps for Lili-Marlene) -- flex The Tubes -- Remote Control Brings back fond memories of Art College during the early Eighties. I think I wore out several copies of each album whilst burning the midnight oil. I hope you don't mind me stating this but Barbie; you look sensational in this vid !

"From the Tearooms of Mars" is a vinyl I just picked off the shelf at Karma Records back in the early 80's. I had no idea who they were (Landscape)...I loved it....all my friends thought I was weird...nothing's changed....I'm still weird.....I didn't know this song had a video....Who is the Gay Saw Guy?

not heard this since i shoved the record player in a plastic bin liner and left it to gather dust in the loft. bit more trivia - band member andy pask co-wrote the theme tune to the Bill. saw Tik and Tok in Manchester 83, Gary Numan, my 1st gig. and Shock... Ah, memories of videotaped Trois Gymnopedies. Happy days.

I think the lyrics sites are wrong. As I recall it's "spend your life on a leisure farm". "the micro brain is here to stay", "information processors", "the word is out - digits in" and "playtime for the European Man". I could be wrong, but that seems to make more sense. :)

Andy Pask sawing wood? Attitude magazine cover in the making. Pete Thoms simply wasn't right for a pop band....but a shop steward hmmm. Keyboardman Chris 'Seb Coe' Heaton and lead man Richard Burgess have got it right. Sh*t video though...
