@@brennerfineart yeah, that happens to me too. I was checking how to paint grass, but was getting distracted. Nice paintings by the way. 🙃 in the past I thought that oil painting is the best painting practice ever. After getting used to acrylics and working with it for a few years, I realized that I learned a lot of stuff and my oil painting improved too. Are you practicing painting with acrylics?

@@ilonaxxx20 I started with acrylics, switched after a short period (a year or so) to oils and never came back to acrylics...I simply do not like them...no time for blending and I do blend ALL THE TIME for HOURS ;-)))) Well...I did came back when I used them for the underpainting when I started this channel here in 2020...but after another year or so I switched finally to oils even for the underpainting. I just prefer to work with oils all the time meanwhile :-)

Is it possible to get this kind of detail with acrylics as well? and what would you suggest for the color pallette for the grasses? Thank you for any help.. Love to listen to you; your voice is very soothing.💙💛💙💛
@brennerfineart
@brennerfineart 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Christiana, you`re welcome :-))) I used acrylics at the beginning of my painting endeavors but when I tried oils for the first time I never went back (just for the underpainting sometimes). Oils are MUCH easier to handle, you have way more time to blend compared to acrylics that basically are dry the moment you put them on the canvas. Try them, you also do not need white spirit or any other harsh medium, just purified linseed oil and that`s all you need. The grass - I mix my greens by using lemon yellow and phthalo blue as a base colour to start with and then I add som raw sienna, cadmium red, lamp black, titanium white, and more lemon yellow and phthalo blue to switch it to any direction I need. You actually do NOT need a ton of different colours...my palette consists only of titanium white, lemon yellow, raw sienna, cadmium red, phthalo blue, dioxazine purple and lamp black - you do not need more colours to mix any colour you might ever need :-)))

How do painters separate out value and color? My brain still can't get over how people use a fully super saturated red color and bam it's a different color all together. Color theory is tricky.
@brennerfineart
@brennerfineart 2 жыл бұрын
Yes - This is a process that takes a lot of practice - but you not only can mix different colours (I use for example only yellow and blue for my greens adjusting them with some red, brown, black, white) but you can also "tone down" colours a lot by just adding white and black. Or some other colour you mixed before. There really is nearly no limit to that, you can mix nearly any colour with a limited palette of 6, 7 base colours :-)))

@brennerfineart
@brennerfineart 2 жыл бұрын
