Welcome to my channel where the art of seascape photography meets the unpredictability of nature. There will be many times that you arrive at a rain-soaked location, the prospect of capturing any images, never mind the perfect shot, might seem bleak. However, patience is pivotal; those who wait may find the weather clearing, revealing spectacular scenes and a chance to immerse yourself in the great outdoors. I celebrate these moments of transformation, and I hope this inspires you to embrace each opportunity, no matter how unpromising it initially appears.
For budding photographers, emulating established landscape artists can be immensely beneficial. By observing and replicating their techniques, you gain invaluable insights into framing, lighting, and composition. This process not only enhances your skills but also helps you cultivate a unique sense of intentionality in your work. Join me as I explore these themes, encouraging you to develop your personal style while standing on the shoulders of giants in the world of landscape photography.
I specialise in large format print focusing on creating fine art images best viewed on a wall.

Stunning skies. I have a preference for darker images. To me they have much more drama. The color range in these images is really wonderful. The black an white versions also have wonderful drama. Beautiful images as always.

Hi Izzy, it's warming that you mentioned the "stealing" subject, you have relieved an element of guilt that has been burdening me for a while now. I too have been inspired by your photography, so much so that after many times of shooting the Hornibrook Bridge in Brisbane and not being too happy with my results, revisited the site on numerous occasions since your video and eventually "stole" your idea of removing the Redcliffe Bridge in post processing, producing what I claim to be a satisfying minimalist image. I convinced myself that as a fellow Scouser, you wouldn't mind me using (stealing) your idea (lame excuse, I know). A number of people have made favourable comment on my image and, to assist with my guilt, I do point them in your direction and inform them that my image was inspired by you, a bloody visitor to my now home town 😎! I will continue to visit the Hornibrook Bridge, chasing the light with the ever changing climatic conditions; I am in search of a dark and dramatic moody sky! I'm loving your videos mate, keep up the great work and be assured that you and your work has a positive and inspirational affect on my, and I'm sure many others, photographic journey.

Thank you Terry, for your honesty, and for sharing your journey with me. I am honoured and humbled that you hold my prattle and work in such high regard 😊. As a scouser I would have thought it in your DNA to steal anything not bolted down... and even then we should give it a fair go 😂. I am made up you have managed to create something that you like and enjoy and it seems you have moved on to the stage of wanting to better your results to date. That I raise my hat at and celebrate. Long may you steal others work, as do I, and long shall we work to make them our own. Have a great week 🙏🙏🙏

Wonderful captures again Izzy! I must admit, when I'm doing Saturday sunrise with the crew, I do think "how would Izzy approach this"........I learn something new every time I go out. There are many photographers on KZfaq who I enjoy and whose images are stunning and I find that I am looking for similar perspectives now when I shoot. Again....thank you. 😁

Regarding the copying of other's work, I agree that it's a useful step in studying the skill of photography. But just duplicating what has gone before isn't something I'd find satisfying. I want my skill level to be such that I _can_ do that (duplicate the work of others), but I'm more comfortable going my own way. So, I'll visit whatever places you (as well as others) have been, not to copy, but to analyze and assess, and also to find my own compositions. I'll experiment - it isn't as if it costs me anything to put images on a memory card - just to see what I can manage. Seeing what other photographers saw and perhaps imagining how they arrived at a composition will surely help me grow. As I travel my path, I'll enjoy it, savoring each step forward, and I'll drink a silent toast to those whose work I studied and words I heeded.

From not a very promising start to wowser at the end! I loved that first bonus photo. I've learned all my photography 'skills' via YT and editing in LrC too! I am constantly learning and trying to improve - sometimes successfully but normally I come away with something I could have done better/differently. The reason for saying this is that I have taken most of my inspiration from YTubers but I don't think I've ever been to a location that the YTubers I follow have been (there aren't that many that come up to the locations I go to in Scotland). Anyway I'm rambling....great images Izzy and made all the better by seeing Raffy the rascal. Take care Izzy

Not rambling at all and thank you very much Jill. Have a look at this blog, the location isn't too far from you I think and would make a lovely muse to copy. If I was in Scotland I'd certainly hit this location: www.berenosphotography.com/blog/2015/03/cramond-causeway/ Have a great week 🙏🙏🙏

I think your argument that copying other photographers images and ideas is valid from a learning perspective. If photographers share their locations and settings it could be that they're happy for others to have a go. To a small extent that was part of my learning process; but then my learning began before the internet and the rise of social media, without access to the library of images and stimulation and provocation we have today. I think your argument is made more valid by the fact that you practice what you preach, and bravo for that. I sometime have the privilege to photograph with a friend who's a world class and world renowned landscape photographer. It makes me bring my A game and I work hard not to copy what he's doing in the field and because I'm conscious of this I've come away with images I'm really pleased with, that I probably wouldn't have seen if I wasn't working so hard not to copy my friend. An interesting and thought provoking video my friend, and as usual excellent images.

Thank you for sharing your insight with me. I agree going out with someone who is considered a professional photographer is a great way of understanding how a photographer approaches capturing the landscape and being immersed in the experience makes the learning much more 'real'. Enjoy the rest of the week Tony 🙏🙏🙏

Finally got to view this video, Well as always Izzy you manage to find these magic locations. As a beginner it is nice to get all the tips etc. but if you are going to learn then you just have to go and find your own location and then use the tips you have received, I found by getting your images critiqued by a professional and that was sometimes a bit hard to take but it was very helpful. Loved the Jetty image at 22:36 but my pick was the lone rock image at 7:48. Thanks Izzy and have a great week.

Cheers Ross and I couldn't agree more, that would be the best outcome over all. I also agree on discussing your work with a professional, although a one-to-one in the field may be the best option of all. Costly but definitely worth it in my opinion, and i say this as someone who was a paying customer to another photographer once upon a time. Thanks for the comment buddy and I hope you have a great weekend ahead 🙏🙏🙏

What’s that old sage wisdom, you can never swim twice in the same river…cos the water is constantly changing. Surely it’s the same with a picture. The light, the conditions and not to mention the quality of kit all effect the outcome. And how else do we learn but from standing on the shoulders of giants As always Iz lovely set of shots on what was basically a pretty ordinary day/sunrise. I always love the bonus shots and I see you got in a spectral fishermen this week. Well done mate
