Hey man, I am currently in the process of starting a landsknecht kit, your video is very informative Can I ask, where would you keep the crosses? Just hung around your neck on the chain? On a belt? In a bag?

Way better than what I have and much more accurate than what I have on. But I would like to think of mine being loosely based to the Landsknecht of the 1480s-1510 with a more Gothic style of armor. I never herd that pronunciation of the Landsknecht that you say. I herd many people in Historical European martial arts (HEMA) say: For short Full name A. "Land*stein" & "Land*stein*et" or B. "Land*skine" & Land*skine*net" or C. "Land*shtine/Land*Shtin" & "Land*Shtin*et" Those are the pronunciations I been hearing by many, many people in Historical European martial arts (HEMA). We manly say it the short way, but sometimes when tehy di say it by the full name the ways I showed above on the right side after the &. I think it depends of the unit of the Landsknecht as well as the man as some have more armor than others. European armor is very mobile. api.ning.com/files/Ls-i7jJXgRAQ-uTShBVAjbjXtmMRMCkeKhkv9m74OI*AAGRy-00Y2jEfD23mF510DmD*1pJRy39V7j2Wy06zHjPw3jjSsCHm/DSCF0906.JPG?width=450&height=600 & www.art-verwandte.de/ceri/Album_03/bilder/_DSC2498.jpg Also does the Landsknecht of the mid or late 1500s had more armor? (the black armor that we see) www.mac-armour.cz/obrazky/fotky/trab3.JPG?width=550

+Landsknecht 86 sorry i did not see this sooner. I pr-nonce Lanskencht the way i did in the video because i was American ising it. I do say it correctly when in charter. As for armor most common foot... in my research i have found that they just wore a simple breast plate and helm (if they could get it) because most of these hard men where not in a staining army and just got what they could afford. Most wood cuts and painting show more armor but this is artist interpretation. I have a full kit as an officer and i would have had a wagon to carry it and a lot of cash to throw around to pay for stuff to put in it.

Is that ring-hilt sword in the background also from lutel? Could you maybe write about it a little?

very interesting to see, personally i am intnding to EVENTUALLY getinto the landsknecht but more as a front linesman, wielding the dreaded zweihander as opposed to being a simple rank and file pikeman. (you probably know all this), but for the other commenters, it was huge, one example in the graz armoury in austria is catalogued as 190cm, but most were about 175 or so, and about 3.5kg in weight in that role id have abit more armour 3/4-1/2 plate with a helm i.e burgonet wouldnt i?

Interesting gear brother. Where is Excaliber? LOL I would love to see in person a reenactment of a battle, I bet it would be fun.

Try the library…. There are many books about Landsknechts, and lots of woodcuts. There are also may books on the 16th century. Look for books that pertain to the European continent, not England. At for the Katz it was made by Lutel in the Check Republic. God Bless and thanks for watching. If you PM me your e-mail address I can send you some links
