Lang Lang performs Grande Polonaise brillante, Op. 22 and his Chopinesque solo encore of Liszt's Consolation No.3 during Last Night Proms 2011 inside the Royal Albert Hall. Edward Gardner conducts the BBC Symphony Orchestra.

This piece was played over the closing credits of that harrowing WW2 film, 'The Pianist'. It's the only time I've ever experienced an entire cinema audience staying firmly glued in their seats throughout the entire credits roll!

Lang Lang has done so much for classical music for the younger generation. He single handedly revived the classical music scene and made everyone aware how beautiful it is to listen to such classics!

I have not seen such magnificent mastery of any instrument and heartfelt emotion as Lang Lang displays in his concerts especially when he plays Chopin. Mere words fail to describe it all.

Lang Lang é tão maravilhosamente especial e tão natural, que ele intepreta o que quiser, como se estivesse em sua casa, de pijamas, como se ao redor dele não existisse tantas pessoas!!! Sua alegria está na música e por ela ele vive. Realmente uma lenda incomparável. Sente-se como o próprio compositor estivesse ali!

Why do you say 'genius'? Compared to countless other works for piano & orchestra, this piece is quite easy & uncomplicated. But even if this Polonaise were very difficult, how does this entitle him to be called, of all things, a genius? If he IS deserving of this, then so are dozens & dozens of other pianists who've mastered & performed with similar success.

Effortless and brilliant - Lang Lang is so relaxed playing for this huge Royal Albert audience consequently he can concentrate on direct communication with them and of course they love it. Regardless of some ot the bitchy jealous remarks made on these pages I consider Lang Lang as an outstandingly gifted artist.

A person who is annoyed by the constant, sickening smiling as seen here, doesn't have to be jealous, but simply OBSERVANT! Find me other pianists who feel that they have to grin all the way through a performance in order to "connect" with their audiences. Some day, when this pianist's boyish face becomes less cute, the smiles might not be enough to "get" to viewers. At that point, he'll have to adopt new strategies, most likely in the form of even more conspicuous limp and floating wrists and expressive raised elbows. Are my remarks bitchy enough?
