One thing I've noticed about Rachmaninoff piano concerto 1 &3 is that the piano is played immediately at the beginning of the concerto, unlike most of your concertos where the orchestra plays 1st.

This concerto really was made for Mre Lang's ebullient personality. One of a kind brilliant performance.

It was amazing. Can't believe it took me this long to really appreciate the beauty of Rach 1. 2, 3, and later 4 were first for me.

@@Cardstacker this is the revised version, the earlier version was written when Rachmaninoff was much younger and sounds a lot like Mendelssohn. On number 2 check out Sokolov's performance.

들어본 녹화본 중 가장 피아노 선율이 잘 들리네요. 확신에 넘친 파워풀한 연주가 한 몫 했겠죠? 호불호가 있는 연주자이지만, 한결같이 긍정적인 모습 때문에 늘 누군가에게 사랑받을 수 있는거 같습니다.

Never have I heard such a clearly articulated performance. Lang Lang reimagines Rachmaninoff. The piano is out of tune in the middle section.

That is the most powerful cadenza I have ever heard, there is no other performance that is stronger than this one. 12:52

He’s just banging on the downbeats and adding bass notes. There’s no melodic line. It sounds exceedingly ugly.

@@gabrielbustos2706there’s a pretty obvious melodic line, if you don’t appreciate Lang Lang just say so, no need to criticise his style and argue with me, I hope you’re still a child or teenager, for an adult to speak like that, is soo sad. 😢Get Help.

@@okaybuddy6027I can see where you both are coming from and while I don’t necessarily agree that it was as ugly as previously stated I don’t think it’s an incredibly outrageous statement. I don’t believe lang lang does justice to the tone of the cadenza, he is exaggerating the grandiose nature of the it which I believe comes off as a little too over-the-top with the added fortississimo bass notes.

" historic" in the sense, the wonderful Philadelphia Orchestra, Rachmaninoff's favorite and with which he recorded all of the Concerti and Rhapsody. Much more convincing interpretation than the recent Trifonov Philadelphia product.

음... 선생님 아무래도 교향곡1번이랑 착각하신것같아요... 피아노협주곡 1번 이작품이 18살에 단기간에 작곡하여 초연에 큰 호평을 받았고 작곡가본인도 애착이 깊어 1917년에 개작 했다고 방금 자료보고왓어요 아무래도 혹평이랑은 거리가 먼거같습니다. 이곡을 작품번호1번으로 삼아 차이코프스키와 같은 반열에 오르고싶은 욕망도 있다고 알고있어서요...

@@user-yi2wn2gr1o 그럴수도 있겠네요.. 이나이에 우기는건 아니라고 생각합니다~ 전 옛날부터 그렇게 입력돼..ㅎ 피협2번 2악장이 세상에서 젤아름다운 곡으로 1위예요~ 클라리넷과 피아노가 서로 화답하는것같아요~^^

THE PIANO IS OUT OF TUNE in the two octaves from middle C. Lang is great.......Rachmaninoff and his style are preempted by the pianist;s personal style......a LOT of liberties. Still...

Applauding after the 1st movement is a major faux pas, but one can hardly blame the audience in this case.

It’s a terrible thing that the first interpretation you heard is the only one you’ll accept ever. For me it’s Magaloff for Rach 1.

C'est n'importe quoi, des faux accents partout, aucun suivi des couleurs donnant à la phrase musicale toute sa richesse, il n'y a que trop d'importance à la démonstration, rien que la descente au début n'est que pure virtuosité, hélas aucun ressenti harmonique.
