Sarah…You are the only designer I know who publicly and proudly shows off the purchase of USED furniture, reimagined, reupholstered, repainted. So many in the industry push to sell all new without the awareness of the clients use for new nor the idea that not all things need to be tossed. Yes!!!!! She has always designed this way, staying true to her vision and over the past 2 decades that we've been watching her shows in the states, her transformations, big or small, have always been amazing!! She can turn a dumpster dud into makeover magic! This is true talent on display!! She can walk into a room, see it from beginning to end in her mind, waves her magic paintbrush and viola! AND she can explain it all in a way that even a no visioner like me, can visualize!! What a gift to give the world!!

Sarah I lost my house with everything in it in foreclosure on May 27, 2015. For years I lived with no furniture in a one-bedroom apartment overlooking a pretty little park. Slowly I filled my apartment with dishes, furniture, art etc. that people had thrown out and left on the street. Then I got furniture that people were giving away on Facebook marketplace. I watch your videos over and over for inspiration. I think you would really be impressed on how I have decorated my apartment with other people's cast offs.

Sarah I was in Barcelona last summer and felt in love with the houses built for Gaudi. He said that God doesn’t create in straight lines only humans 😊. Most of his work is based in curves and nature. Amazing!

I am blessed to have a big long space…outdoors. I still used a lot of these tips for creating four different seating areas. Haven’t found my perfect outdoor rugs yet.

Sarah, I saw this video awhile back and really liked the mix of the green and blue. Well I just re-watched this video today and I subconsciously used your idea. I just redecorated a guest room that I'm using as an Airbnb room and did the same thing. A green wall and blue cabinets in a kitchenette where the closet was prior. I used a beautiful comforter with a green background and birds in a garden setting as my inspiration piece. I just realized this today! Thanks so much! I love your designs!

You had me at budget! We hired a design firm to renovate our ensuite and the first red flag should have been when they asked us to increase our budget. Should have moved on at that point. The conservatory is beautiful. Wouldn’t it be lovely to just lounge in there with a pot of tea and a good book?!

I was waiting with baited breath to find out the name of the artist of those wonderful pieces…Grace! Does she want to remain anonymous because I’m sure her work would sell well. Maybe her name and contact info is on your website? In any case the paintings are stunning. The makeover is another winner too Sarah. I particularly like what you did with the rattan tables and chairs. I’m a huge fan of rattan and wicker.

Wonderfully fresh-feeling design! A question about the size of the rugs and the placement of the furniture: are rugs not supposed to frame the table and chairs by two feet around so the legs don’t catch? Will that be a problem here?

Thanks for the feedback. Great question! Yes, typically that's a good rule of thumb to adhere to. In this case, we gave each seating area a good test drive to ensure nothing snagged and there were no hazards. While we may have bent the rules a little, it still passed the test. Guidelines are great - but the test drive is always the best truth teller. Thanks for watching!

The gardener might have been A BIT freaked out by them raiding his greenhouse. Not every plant is suitable for every interior location. Although, a conservatory is kind of designed for plants, right?

The room is same but different with the rattan vs wicker. So much lighter. I would have liked to hear about the tables. Where did they cone from. Maybe one was purchased with the chairs??? What are the tops made out of, they appear to be all the same. Even the little server tables got the same treatment. Art is such a personal choice. I would want something less contemporary for that space. The rooms you are doing are all beautiful but I just wonder if they give the guests the same sense of luxury and history the orginal did????

All of these pieces were sourced through second hand sites like Kijiji, and the tops are Caesarstone (two different colours). So far our clients have received plenty of positive comments about the new spaces from their guests, and that makes us very happy!!! Thanks for watching!

Question: Whenever there is a call for lighter furniture, I see SR using rattan. Is this a personal choice, is it what's available, or is it because there aren't many options out there. Just curious. I personally don't like the look of rattan. It reads as cheap and tropical to me, neither of which personally interest me if I was doing design work. Now I realize it's a personal bias but I do want to know what other options there are out there to replace it particularly in a situation like this, in a garden conservatory. At least in this space, I do see how it fits. But sometimes SR uses it in other spaces which don't make sense, for example, when she used it in the Creemore living room space which was a ski retreat. I really didn't understand its use in this space. So, I just want to understand the use of this material and why it's chosen so often in SR's renovation projects.

Rattan is definitely my go-to when I'm looking for lighter and easily moveable furniture. It was the perfect choice here at Langdon because they often need to re-arrange seating plans in a hurry to accommodate different parties, so heavy, immoveable pieces were not an option. Also, the open frame of rattan pieces allows light and air to flow through, which goes a long way when you're creating a space that you want to feel open and spacious - a signature move of mine. It's safe to say I'm a fan of rattan 😉. Thanks for watching!
