No, they don’t ask. I rented it from my stay so they did not ask for anything as a proof. If you rent it from a shop (like i did it in penang), they will ask for a deposit and i think they took a photocopy of indian license). @sachitrastogi

Your Indian driving license should be in English or Malay to drive your car on Malaysian roads. The issuing authorities or the Indian Embassy in Malaysia have to provide an approval to the paper.
