I'm armenian and I understood all of them because we and russian people have the same sayings. Armenians know russian very well we grow up knowing russian and english so we know most sayings. Don't say something unless you know it for sure because I know for a fact MANY people understood most of these.

Literally the saying is: you may not look a given horse in the mouth. It means, you should never be ungrateful for something that is given to you (as a gift).

If you aren't careful, it all walks in the soup. I am just watching a monkey out of the tree. Leave your hands at home. I don't trust him for a meter. There is no ball on tv. I will let them smell a poopie. You are making an elephant out of a fly. Buying a cat in a bag. Now the monkey comes out of the sleeve. He is carried over the horse. If you aren't Dutch these don't make any sense. Also, while I am writing these, I am noticing how many sayings with monkeys there are.

I have no any idea who is she , but she made my day with a lot of laugh 😂 Spending my time in Nederland over two year ago ....in begging of staying here I was scared of Dutch expression look and accent... ,,The pot is laughing that the kettle is black" This saying is used to convey that the criticisms a person is aiming at someone else could equally well be applied to themselves.

This is so funny! I kinda missed 'Make that the cat wise', a famous Dutch expression but often simply wrong translated. It really means: Yeah as if I would thát kind of thing (well sort of, I think you get it).

Correct translation would be "nothing at the hand". Het is "aan de hand", niet "op de hand". Sorry, kon het niet laten.

Her face structure is very similar to that of Carolyn Murphy. Both have square jaws with high but hollow cheek bones. They also have fair skin, blue eyes, and blonde hair. Not to mention look really clean fresh faced. Doutzen's overall face however looks more like a young Denise Richards.

Doutzen is a natural blonde. Denise Richards is not and I am not sure about Carolyn Murphy.

Doutzen naturally has light brown hair. She lightens it to make it more blonde but since her natural shade is not that far from blonde it often looks natural.

You could make a vid on English (or Welsh for that matter) idioms that lasts for three hours. And that's just all the nautical-based ones. Ship shape, even keel, plain sailing, wind in his sails, etc etc

We have the same expression in Romanian: Calul de dar nu se cauta in gura. Don't look into the mouth of the horse you have recieved as a gift. A lot of the sayings are not only in the Netherlands.

You forgot: "You cannot get feathers from a frog." (instead of blood from a turnip) "if a little point comes close to a litle pole" (als het puntje bij paaltje komt). "Kinderen zijn hinderen, zei Vader Cats. Maar hij vergat dattie zelf ook kind geweest was. (Children are a bother," said [Jacob] Cats, but he forgot he was once a child himself). Gekken en dwazen schrijven hun namen op muren en glazen (Crazies and fools write their names on walls and windows), a dismissal of Grafitti. Oh, you can go on and on, but "Het is the gek om los te lopen" (It's too crazy to let run around loose)

Even Dutch mix up the expressions. A while ago I heard someone say (instead of 'you made me happy with a dead sparrow') 'that sparrow really isn't going to be very happy'. Lol. Oh well. Both are kinda funny really

"Never look a given horse in the mouth" is common in other languages as well... I guess most languages have weird sayings and phrases...

It's actually not that weird. Before cars, horses were the most important mode of transportation. Horse breeding and selling was very common centuries ago and the first thing you did when checking a horse is look at its teeth. If the teeth look good, the horse is healthy.

The latter part of my comment was about the other sentences.. As I said the above is common in other languages, and of course therefor it makes sense! They still check horses health and age by looking at their teeth. So if you get a horse as a gift you don't look it in the mouth to see it's age and condition and therefor not it's worth/value/cost!

I love the expression mier nokker I spelt it wrong I guess.... and the other I love, een pot nat ...I live in France now and it is full of mier nokkers ...but there is no expression for it....strange .....maybe because there are so many its normal??
