He’s speaks so well!! I have to be careful, I started comparing my son to yours and feeling guilty because my son doesn’t speak nearly as well (he’ll be 3 in May). But I have to remember my son is bilingual and it comes with the territory. He’ll speak sentences when he’s ready. But it’s great to see what to look for!

Yes! Definitely try not to compare. There is a huge range, and there are certainly kids Kai's age that speak more clearly. I know it can be hard not to at times. Your little one is learning two languages! That is awesome. It is typical for kiddos learning more than one language to take longer to speak. Makes total sense, as they will be speaking two languages haha. :)

@@nekoleamber I understand all children develop at different rates but i'm sure you know your child is 100% meeting his milestones and that posting videos like this of a child who isn't even quite 3 years old yet will make other parents worry? 🤔 I get your intentions are good but something about this makes me feel like you want to show everyone how well your own son is doing. Maybe I'm wrong.

Oh wow. I'm actually feeling really proud right now. My 18 month old daughter can answer most of these questions. She doesn't speak in sentences like your son does but if I ask her about animal sounds, what she wants to eat, where something is, who her friends are, what song she wants to hear, what game she wants to play and a bunch more she answers in 1-3 word sentences. She's bilingual and it annoys the daylights out of me though that even though she fully understands English she refuses to answer or communicate in English. I really hope this gets better as she gets older because I can't have kids who can't communicate with my side of the family.

My oldest son (now 9), was REALLY early and advanced in language. I spoke Spanish, English, & did baby sign language with him from birth; others would congratulate me on doing such a great job, (and I did give him a lot of attention), but I swore even then that his achievements were largely due to HIM. I nurtured his abilities, but I didn't create them. Sometimes he clearly showed he had mastered something, and was pushing to the next thing to learn. I remember him telling me "I have to poop now," and responding with "okaaay.. I guess I need to potty train you then." I didn't feel right just telling him to continue going in his pants, when he was clearly telling me he knew what was up and ready to do something else. That said, my #2 is now 3 year old and not as advanced. I'm not concerned, as I've worked with kids professionally for over 20 years; I know there's a range of normal, and I don't get caught up on comparing. My husband, however, has expressed concern about our 3 y/o not "meeting his milestones." I was looking up videos and yours was so reassuring! I really appreciate all of the text you provided throughout the video to explain what you're doing and looking for. The casualness of the interaction means this was a regular, typical kind of conversation between a mother and son. Watching the conversation unfold naturally was more helpful to me than reading bullets of expectations or listening to an adult speech about what kids should be doing. Thank you for taking the time to make this video and share a little piece of your family with the world.

I can understand how you and especially your husband would expect your second child to meet or exceed your first Child's academic and behavioral Milestones. But I have had five children and let me tell you each one is different. While there are basic guidelineach child is going to meet the milestones at their own pace and unless it's severely delayed there's no cause for alarm.

My son can count to 100, knows all of his letters by sight and puts numbers and letters in order, as well as write all the letters and numbers up to 100. He can sing at least 20 songs from beginning to end (nursery songs), he has great receptive language, but he just won't speak in conversations. He will ask for things - but only as one word sentences. He answers in one word sentences - but I feel like he is just not connecting all of this knowledge into the ability to have a conversation. I worry that not spending time around other children because of Covid is not helping, or the fact that my husband works a different shift - so he doesn't get to witness two adults speaking to each other very often.

Too cute! What a sweetie! He's so funny! And he answers questions! Mine always just ignored me. Haha. My son (now 4.5) has always been very "advanced" as far as language goes. By three he was saying things like "I like these cookies, although I prefer the others more". It's fun until he started sassin'! Haha. Now, he's sort of regressed in a way. He goes to preschool and most of the kids are also his age, but they baby-talk (which he had never been exposed to, before, because I am No Fun) or don't speak as clearly as he does/has, which is fine! They're doing great! But ugh. It is so frustrating to all of a sudden have my very well-spoken kid talking like a baby or growling. It was our one break (well, two, he potty trained himself in a day)! He was a textbook AWFUL baby. Haha. Beautiful and healthy but made us not want any more until he was three... I know it's a phase, but it's hard! It'll be interesting to see how our daughter develops language-wise now.

I’m worried about my sons speech it’s 2 months before his 3rd birthday. He has very few words that are really close to perfect form. He used nosies for words and doesn’t try to pronounce words. He very rarely puts words in a sentence. Should I be concerned? He try’s to say words when I ask him to but he usually does syllables that in the word I’m asking him to say. He doesn’t use S’s, C’s, Ch’s and other letters. He understands so many words that I don’t even know how he knows. He watches a lot of educational videos on his iPad as well as kids music. We do picture books and I ask him to point at the object and then say it but he can’t say most. He will try most but like I said it’s syllables that sound like word. Maybe I’m over thinking it but idk. What do you guys think? I’ve thought about speech therapy but I have a new job and don’t get better insurance for 2 more months. I’m embarrassed to say he was on state insurance while I’ve been searching for a good job that I have now. We are 24 but we are committed to our sons development and hate the stereotype that young people aren’t good parents. Our son is our world and I’ve worked so hard to get the job I have now that is actually going to take care of us. I welcome anyone’s feed back. Thank you guys. I know it’s not usual that men ask these questions but my wife gets a little protective when I keep bringing this subject up so I want other parents or specialists thoughts before I bring it up to her again.

I was looking forward to seeing someone answer... I see it's been 4 months, how is your son doing? I understand... im a single mom who constantly blames herself for not knowing "better" and allowing getting induced at 41 weeks instead of getting a c-section at 40 weeks. I constantly think that I could've avoided the delay, but maybe things will just click and fall into place. Hope all worked out
@markmiranda9461
@markmiranda9461 3 жыл бұрын
@@yady170 he’s doing better. His words are growing but same issues where he can’t say certain letters but I’ve been encouraged by his progress. He’s amazing for his age at copying letters. He says a couple sentences now. I’d still like to see more progress. But it’s understanding every kid is different and I had been comparing in to others. He’s extremely tall for his age. He’s in the 99th percentile. My wife is pregnant again and He’s so excited, he wants a sister. Try not to worry and do not blame yourself. Just make sure you try doing the things I talked about like doing the picture books, educational videos, puzzles, drawling, and even normal play time helps kids learn. Clearly you are doing a good job because you are here and care. As parents we all worry about our kids. Just trust the journey and do everything you can to teach because they are learning so much. And no baby talk. Say words clear and sound them out slowly. I’ve been able to teach my son doing this. You got it girl. Keep being proud and keep teaching.
