I know ChatGPT is always evolving and by now it might have upgraded some of its features, and be more precise in certain things. Nevertheless, I believe it cannot substitute other methods of language learning. Do you agree? Or do you disagree completely? Let me know in the comments below :)

I’ve used ChatGPT 4 extensively - the voice chat feature specifically. It’s still rough around the edges for European Portuguese - to start, the voice models are based on Brazilian Portuguese and still imperfect even for BP so sometimes you get strange pronunciations like for the word “fixe”. Moreover when asking for corrections it’ll often correct towards BP even when you’ve prompted it to speak EP (for example correcting Estou a falar to Estou falando). That said, with clever prompting it can be an engaging if challenging way to have a spoken conversation in Portuguese. I would recommend voice chat only to folks who already have a pretty stable EP. One fun prompt I made was - “pretend to be a social media addicted high schooler living in Lisbon and give me a tour of the city. You should speak European Portuguese and use language typical of that age bracket. With each turn of the dialogue you should ask me a question.” Learned lots of interesting vocab from our convo such as that youngens say “bue” and “cena” a lot

Esta não é uma pergunta simples com uma resposta simples. Tenho sido muito ajudado por todo o tipo de professores de português no KZfaq e noutros sítios. Penso que a Mia é uma excelente professora, com sentido de humor e um encanto maravilhoso. Mas uma aplicação de línguas (não o ChatGPT) lembra-se do que sei, do que não sei e do que preciso de saber melhor. Nenhum professor consegue lembrar-se disso. Quando estudei francês no liceu, respondia a uma ou duas perguntas por aula. Com uma aplicação de línguas, respondo a duas perguntas a cada dez segundos. O Chat GPT vai continuar a melhorar. Mas não se trata de uma questão de um ou outro. Como estudante de línguas, tento utilizar todos os recursos que estão à minha disposição e o Chat GPT é apenas mais uma ferramenta para me ajudar a melhorar. Não tem o encanto da Mia, mas quem é que tem?

Porque é que os portugueses escrevem “pergunta” mas pronunciam “pregunta”?

Acredito que seja por causa da pronúncia que confunde-os, mas a grafia correta é "pergunta" mesmo.

Eles pronunciam rapido omitindo o e "prgunta". E comum no Português Europeu.

The Best way to Learn BRAZILIAN or PORTUGAL PORTUGUESE, in my view or opinion as a student of PORTUGUESE is only through a NATIVE TEACHER, with a curriculum of study, I have used KZfaq Videos of Brazilian Teachers as well as European Portuguese teachers, ChatGPT is not perfect, I have used it before, it has its limitations and makes a lot of errors. Best as I SAID TO to learn from REAL NATIVE Teachers who are experts and have the human touch, and can answer REAL QUESTIONS.
